Help Finding this game

Ok I was in the airport and I saw this Korean person playing this game in the airport's lobby so he's using a public computer.
It looks browser based so I'm not sure. Couldn't ask him because I had to wait in line due to not having an assigned seat.
The game is real time based, side scrolling by the looks of it. The background was dark same with the sprites.. The only thing I could see was the dude using a sword and the swing animation. I saw him also shoot and the enemy also flicked a red color as indication of being hit. It reminds me alot like madness combat but I doubt madness combat let's you do an uppercut with a sword, 2x vertical slash etc. When the person left it shown like a default screen like 3 enter boxes for text.
I have no clue what this game is called and I've been searching for a while. So if you see a game that meets this description tell me so I can check it out.

need more details like:
can you see your person on the screen ?
do you walk around anywhere or was it set to 1 battle at a time ?
was it like mortal combat - deadly allience ? or more like runescape ?
did it look gothicy like resident evil 4 ? or more like halo 2 ?

oh jeez I saw a game like that awhile ago, >_> I'll try and find it, it was koreon made 2d scrolling fighting game. I'll try and find it and so you can chekc it out and see if it was the same.

You can ofcourse see your character since its SIDE SCROLLING other than I mentioned about it being similar to madness combat.

Sounds a bit like Super Mario to me.
