Lol rules and regulations vary from state. Driving is overrated though all it is, is another chore.

in texas, once you get you're permit for passing the test, you must wait six months to receive you're license (though the six months can be expedited, by proving a great need for one and getting a hardship) that comes with a lot of restrictions. after that you renew it for a real one at 18.

you need 60 hours of driving time, 10 at night though, and you can't use a cellphone while driving until some time after you get your driver's license, make sure that you are driving w/ someone who has had their driver's license for over 5 years though, and that they're in the front passenger seat w/ you, you also can't have your buds w/ you in the car yet either

wow i dont have to do any of that.

after six months of having your permit, not your license, we're allowed to have people in the car. we dont have to wait five years. also we can use cellphones anytime. sucks for you.

Do they even have cars in South Africa?

In Canada it's completely different from the U.S. You write a written test, and if you pass that you get your G1. After 12 months, you have a driven test with an instructor. You can shorten the 12 months by paying $700 and going to driving school, but you still have to wait 8 months. If you pass that, you get your G2. Then you must wait 12 months to get your G license (That's the complete license). There's a driving test for that as well.

G1: You must have someone who's had their full G license for four years. 0% alcohol level. Can't drive on roads that are more than 80 km/h.

G2: You can drive by yourself. Alcohol level must be zero. Can drive on any road.

G: Same as the G2, but you can get a discount on insurance rates by obtaining you class G license.

I'm not going to explain other class vehicles.

I really doubt you can get a licence at age 14, I am 14 and I got a permit to drive with an experienced driver though.

yeah, there's no ****ing way they'd let a 14 year old get a license, it's totally barbaric, they've got to regulate every state like mine

You can in Calgary where my sister lives. You get some kind of permit and are allowed to drive around the city, but you're not allowed something like 30 Km away from it.

As far as I know...you have to be 16 or over to drive on the roads over here...that doesn't mean you can't drive anywhere else. I've driven a jeep, a tractor a quadbike and a go cart but my dad won't let me near his precious motorbikes and drag-racing car.
