Default F.E.A.R. framerate problems

I know most of you have probably never played F.E.A.R., but for those who have, I have recently noticed a massive framerate drop when I enable Vertical sync, while running in SLI. When I emailed Vivendi universal games they gave me this auto response.

Thank you for writing in.

I have gone through the DxDiag report and the system meets the requirements to play FEAR.

However, I noticed that the screen resolution of the monitor is 1280*1024. This might use more graphics. I suggest that you try playing the game after reducing the resolution to 1024*768. Change the resolution in the game setting also. Try playing the game and let me know the status. Also, please let me know the type of the monitor, which you are using.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation in this support process.

Anand
Vivendi Universal Games Technical Support.
I'm running on an AMD Athlon X2 4800+ overclocked to 2.6GHz with 2GB of RAM and dual evga Geforce 7800 GT COs.

Anyone who has similar problems please post, for Vivendi Universal obviously isn't going to help me.

Holy hell. Yeah, my friend had to get a major upgrade for that game...unfortunately he has sworn not to go to this forum anymore for reasons undisclosed....
I'm sure its not anything with processor, video card, or your screen resolution...it might be a problem with your sound card, because that can sometimes mess with the entire gameplay, even if its not sound.

Well I'm still on an Audigy 2 ZS. That isn't the problem. I have all of the updates but it still drops below 30 fps when vert sync is enabled. Normally the lowest drop I received according to the F.E.A.R. in game benchmark was 42FPS.

Oh well I'll just play without it and suffer from image tearing.
