Default I purchased Alan Wake today

I thought about it, and I waited 5 fucking years for this stupid game, so I might as well buy it.

Despite the game's low native resolution, it still looks fantastic in most regards. In fact, this would probably be the best looking game out (even surpassing Crysis) were it not for the game's sub-HD resolution on the 360. The only other graphical issue are some minor image tearing, and mediocre facial animations during cutscenes. Since the game is rendered at 960x540 with 4xAA the game doesn't really have huge aliasing issues, but the image is pretty soft overall.

As far as the game play goes, it's not super groundbreaking. You fight and avoid enemies that mostly use melee weapons, solve some fairly basic puzzles, while exploring some rural and scenic parts of the pacific northwest. Combat involves exposing enemies to light and then shooting them with pistols, shotguns, rifles, etc.

Overall I'm enjoying the game quite a bit, although playing it makes me wonder what Remedy could have done had they not canceled the PC version. I still wish they had kept it as a sandbox horror game with day and night cycles.

I think they didn't do as much as they could with Alan Wake because they are pulling all they can together for Max Payne 3.

Remedy isn't developing Max Payne 3, Rockstar is.

Also, I beat Alan Wake and I enjoyed it a lot more than I expected to.

When did this happen? I thought they were making it together, or something.

Is the storyline good, cuz I've been contemplating trading in Fight Night round 4 for it.

It's one of the best story driven games I've ever played.
