Default Anime conventions?

Yeah. They suck.

Hot, smelly, too many people, not enough room, nothing to do, weeaboos as far as the eye can see, random plastic sword fights, girls using it as an excuse to dress as the sluttiest character they can think of, needing to "register" before being allowed admission to shop, even though it was free so there was no real point since it wouldn't make people any more inclined to actually buy overpriced home-made cat-eared beanies, keychains, or Ameri-manga.

...

I guess it was kind of fun, sort of.

I just went to Naka-Kon. I thought it was pretty awesome. Pretty much for the same reasons Nicky disliked it.

Part of the problem was that I was a complete noob and had no idea what I was doing. I mean, the costumes were cool to look at, and there were some people I knew from school who were there, but aside from the initial 10-minute emotional high I got from arriving it got pretty dull. I didn't dress out in any sort of outrageous way, I didn't bring a camera, I didn't have enough money for merchandise, I didn't get there early enough so I missed out on all the interesting stuff, and I didn't go with a huge group of friends.

I think that next year if I'm more prepared it'll be a blast. *edit* The convention of which I speak is Momocon.

I walked through one on the way to a baseball game in Baltimore, and I don't know why anyone would go to one of those. It fits your exact description.

Maybe you just went to the wrong convention. As was written on a car in the parking area, "NAKA-KON OR BUST".

Is it bad that I know exactly which sentence you're talking about?

I don't do the convention scene. All the ones in the area probably suck.

I've decided I'm going to Anime Weekend Atlanta this September. Apparently it's way bigger, loads better, and there are less people going since it actually costs money to enter (Momocon is free).

... is excited.

I have to post here, just to say UGH, I could have been there! And finally actually met you. I was actually planning on going with Amber and Kayleah, but at the last minute that plan failed.

You know, whatever. Lets please just make plans. I'll make room for you in my busy preparing-for-prom-and-spring-break schedule.

Dude! Holy camoly that would be fantastic. I want to go to AWA, which falls right on my birthday actually. You wanna go to that?

Whatever is convenient for you. I'm applying for a job at CiCi's in Cumming... though I doubt that would affect much. Where would you wanna go? Your place? My 'house' isn't exactly... good for visitors at the moment.

You know, I should probably pm this to you, but whatever.

Whatev, people can be creepy if they want to be. I'm too lazy currently to bother with a PM.

My house is actually hectic. And my little siblings, excluding Amber, treat me like some kind of celebrity and cling to anyone who is friends with me and comes over, because they "want to be friends too". To the point of beating on my locked door indefinitely.

Actually, I was thinking more along the lines of like, the mall? Maybe a movie? I've seen a few carnivals around lately. Just somewhere where there is something to do, where we can just be comfortable and get to know each other, you know? AWA sounds good, if I can work that out.

Edit: Warped Tour is a bit far off, but you have to go, right? I'm not saying we shouldn't do something before then, but lets do that, too. If you want.

Hectic huh? Not a big fan of hectic. It's not horrible or anything, but...

The mall sounds good. I don't know of any good movies lately. I've heard The Watchman was horrible (many a tale of there being lots of "shiny blue man-dick"), not that I'm basing my opinion off of that, but I wasn't that stoked to see it in the first place. There's nothing to do where I live except eat. I'm sure we'll figure out something.

Oh yeah, Warped Tour! I completely forgot about that. I've been all into anime and stuff now. Of course I'd want to go!

Yeah, Patrick told me about the whole Watchman thing, and I can't say I'm interested. I mean, not to listen to gossip/judge without knowing, I just trust his opinion completely, and he knows what I would like and dislike without asking me.

We'll think of something, for sure. I'm in Dallas, by the way. Which does exist in Georgia, contrary to (apparently) popular belief.

Warped tour will be stellar, and I'm already meeting a lot of people. I'm sure you'll totally love everyone, so.
