Default Let's talk Windows 7.

The general release is October 22. Personally, I'm installing professional tomorrow. Any questions?

Although Microsoft distributed the final code to a limited number of users, primarily developers and IT professionals, in early August, and to some business customers later that month, it wasn't until the beginning of September that it started offering all volume license customers the new operating system.
So has anybody else tried it yet? Not the release candidate, but the final version.

I got it a couple weeks ago. It feels like a huge step up from Vista.

A buddy has been using it for the last month or so at school and likes it.

I normally prefer to wait a while before jumping into a new OS but I'm ordering parts for a new computer and have been looking forward to Windows 7 since I decided to skip Vista. So it's on my list.

I installed build 6801 when it game out a few months ago. Its okay, not a significant improvement in any way. I'm going to get around to installing it from MSDN eventually.

I haven't gotten it yet, but I want to get it pretty soon because I've heard it's at least better than Vista.

During my installation of Windows 7 Ultimate x64, I got the BSOD twice. Now that I've got it installed and running, Catalyst Control Center will not open, as it crashes as soon as it is launched. This could be the drivers for the 5870 being unfinished and shitty, but so far I am not impressed one bit.

EDIT: I got Catalyst Control Center to work finally, so we'll see how it goes from here.
