Yeah, but there's plenty of sports forums around and I know I'd probably get yelled at for putting it in General Ramblings or something.
I guess you have a point though. Doing something that is very active and energy consuming compared to sitting in a chair and doing practically nothing psychical. And I like boxing more then other sports; It's not as furious as MMA or as simple and peaceful as baseball, for example. |

I personally prefer boxer briefs as they provide better support. My only complaint is that they often don't go low enough on my thighs so I get this weird chafing feel going on.

Boxing is a dying sport. whenever some one refers to "the fight", I think of the latest ufc card.

I never really payed a whole lot of attention to the sport. I was more into kenpo and sword play as a lad.

Meh. Neither was I. But you see, after watching Muhammad Ali fight and Joe fraizer, I realize how much I missed. It's true boxing has died over the years, getting blown away by MMA and UFC. It's a shame though, because I personally see it as a more skillful sport then the other two :/

From the bits and pieces I have seen of both I can't really say which takes more skill. Boxing takes a different sort of skill, more muscle skill really. MMA however seems to be more strategy.

Muscle skill? I dunno. You want power behind your punches, to have more explosive power, that's true but it's not all based on muscle. I see Muhammad (I know he's like the only boxer I talk about) as one of the examples. He is incredibly strong, but not weight-lifting muscles, like maybe Tyson's. He relies on speed and stamina MUCH more then muscle.

By muscle skill I'm referring to muscle memory and reflexes. Blocking without thinking, countering before thinking about it, that sort of thing.

Okay, that makes more sense. Yeah, MMA is probably harder to block, and the submissions are more tactical then just wailing on the guy :)

I'd like to begin learning judo and kenpo again, as well as build up some other physical abilities.

I'm personally looking at taking up Jeet Kune Do, Bartitsu, and Parkour (Parkour not being a martial art but still fucking awesome).

Parkour, oh boy. I'm going to rock climbing club now to build up the finger and forearm strength for that.

How do you strengthen forearms and fingers anyway without going out and rock climbing? (There aren't too many rock-climbing facilities around where I live) I want to build up endurance and speed for blasting on the drums as well as other things.
