that's a little bit like how I got mine my brother's friend stole a DS and then my brother brought it and gave it to me for my birthday

murderbydeath 01-26-2006 04:30 PM

those new ones are a waste of money.

gwia 01-26-2006 04:42 PM

most likely it's just a light DS

murderbydeath 01-26-2006 04:53 PM

what do you mean? anways what ds lite is, is a smaller and brighter screened version of the current ds.

gwia 01-26-2006 04:56 PM

It'll proberly be more expensive though

Ryu-Nacho 01-26-2006 04:56 PM

Think of what happened to the GBA, and apply here. The GBA just got smaller and smaller. Same thing's happenin' to the DS.

gwia 01-26-2006 05:01 PM

so your saying the DS lite is like The Game Boy Advance SP or the Game Boy Colour just an enhancement on the original one an excuse to charge more.

Ryu-Nacho 01-26-2006 05:06 PM

More or less, yeah.

gwia 01-26-2006 05:15 PM

Ok I just wanted to know that we were on the same page here.

what are you talking about? the GBA stayed pretty much the same size throught its existance.

I see the point of this, If you have ever noticed that there are people in this world that like to have everything even if its the same thing but different in some little way that is irrelivent, like the PS2 they have the big one and the small one, some people buy both just for the sake of having it. this is what nintendo is doing to try to rack up some money for their next gen consles and games.

The GBA had a few modifications throughout it's life time. It started off with the normal GBA. Then became the collapsable SP. Then became the GB Micro. Each one was smaller than the last. In the case of the SP, it added a new feature, the light up screen.

*I think those were the only mods. If not, then those were the major ones.*

I have a game boy advance SP. I don't know where it is, and haven't used it in a long time.

again, the new nintendo ds, and the ds lite are different than the two different ps2's. the ps2 just got smaller. the new ds is smaller, and has a brighter screen. haha, really the brighter screen is the only new thing.

Everything is shrinking!

Eccept XBox... it's big... :D

Technology is constantly advancing, so this is the current advancement. Then, the revolution...

DS's are cool and all, but it seems like most of the things about it are a gimmick. I guess that's the way it is with all things though, eh?

guess waht! they're not the same!!!!!! O_o

Ryu-Nacho 01-27-2006 08:48 PM

They're both mods of the original GBA though. Just ploys to make cash. And, it's true that the SP is big when playing, but it's small size when collapsed makes it easier to carry around. Really, it's about the carry around size on handhelds than the actual design. Thinking about it, thats another thing that made the slim PS2 popular. Besides being more powerful, it's much easier to take to your friend's house, or on vacation.
Does size matter? In this case, I think so.

Stokes 01-27-2006 11:44 PM

"guess waht! they're not the same!!!!!! O_o"

Um...yes, they play the exact same GBA games, so they are essentially the same console with a different look... o_O right back at ya, buddy...

I doubt that the DS lite will sell for much more than $150, and it may completely replace the current market item. I personally LOVE the new look, and am considering swapping my existing one for the lite. If only there was a way to do it without losing more than $40...
