Well? What'll it be? I changed it from album to band when I made the poll. There are too many good albums.

At the moment, Ayreon. Of all time, either Pink Floyd, King Crimson, or Porcupine Tree.

Porcupine Tree is pretty awesome. I got the album In Absentia and found that I could only listen to about seven songs on it, but I downloaded some of their other stuff and it's all pretty good.

Yes remains my all-time favorite, especially after I just got one of their newer albums, The Ladder. I have become very obsessed and infatuated, especially with the bass line from the song "The Messenger."

I always thought In Absentia was their most listenable/accessible album. But Stupid Dream and Lightbulb Sun are better.

Well, none of them are my favorite band or anything, but I'll say Muse. They're pretty good. :]

I think it's probably because I don't get much of a chance to listen to cds unless they're on my zen. I like Blackest Eyes, Wedding Nails, and Trains, but I haven't listened to it much since I bought it, so I don't really know much else about it. Kind of like Guero by Beck. I just bought it, but I have only heard two songs off of it. That, and I generally buy like three or four cds at a time, and I usually become obsessed with one and neglect the others.

Oh sir, you must listen to The Sound of Muzak.

King Crimson/Porcupine Tree. I didn't say Tool because I believe them to have more heavy metal elements.

You'd think Queen would have made it up there...

Queen != progressive rock. They have borderline progressive influences in their music, and even those are debatable.

All progressive rock bands were influenced by someone.

Ohh. If they were up there, I would have voted for them. :]

That was the one! I couldn't remember the title, so I didn't put it down, but that was one of the first Porcupine Tree songs I heard.

@ Murderbydeath: Lucky. I live like 10 minutes away and I didn't get to go to sxsw. Of course, the fact that wristbands just for the music were going for $205 may have been a factor....
=====
And also, I would never have put Queen up there. I really cannot stand Queen, and it isn't for lack of trying.

wristbands and badges are pointless. all the day shows are free and totaling all the night showcases i went to, i spent 30 dollars on shows total. i even managed to get on guest lists just because i make it a point to talk to bands when i see them, and when i see them again at sxsw they remember me.
