View Full Version : Automerge Doublepost

It really irritates me and I see no logical reason for its existence. I tried bumping The Metal Thread in Music, but since I was the last poster, it automerged the post, and now my interesting tidbit of news and commentary is stuck in the low end of the page. Many larger forums don't have this feature, and double posting really isn't a big deal anyway, IMO.

Discuss.

I gave up on the Metal thread, I don't like Metal as much as I used to in the summer.

You could of deleted you last post, then posted it?

Anyways, I like the feature, it keeps the new people form havening 3+ posts because they don't know how to use the "edit" button.

It helps cut down on spam/kids who try to raise their post count.

I haven't noticed much of a problem with people raising their post counts on this forum. And yeah, spam, but aren't there mods here anymore to delete it? I thought that was supposedly their job.

It's easier for them, their job is to delete obscene posts I believe. If we didn't have the automerge, we'd get a lot of this:

LOL!

LOL!

LOL!

LOL!

LOL!

It would appear that, in the forum's current state, the mods already have it pretty easy. I see a few closed threads here and there, but that's really it.
