That is good. I took the graduating class' SAT before I entered high schol and got almost 1900/2400, but I'm pretty impressed with that.

And... we don't even have SATs.

Then unless you did some hardcore research, you're probably feeling like me in an anime forum or computer science discussion; that is to say, with nothing to add to the conversation without sounding stupid or as though you live under a rock.

All I know is that they're important for American high school students.

That's good enough to get you into college.

You could probably get into Stanford with those scores...maybe even MIT. If you wanted to pay the huge fees and out-of-state tuitions, that is.

Apparently some schools don't even look at your SAT scores anymore.

In my state we have VCE (Victorian Certificate of Education). It's years 11 and 12 and you have units and do exams at mid-year and the end of the year. Only year 12 counts though, as from all your exam scores, an ENTER (Equivalent National Tertiary Entrance Rank (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Equivalent_National_Tertiary_Entrance_Rank)) score is generated. The highest you can get for an ENTER score is 99.95, but you'll only need at least 99 if you want to enter Commercial Law.

In my state we do ACTAP in years 3,5, 7, 9 and 11.

Yeah, but most schools treat them the same as ACTs, which is the test that schools look at only sometimes.

If you wanted to pay the huge fees and out-of-state tuitions, that is.you need to get near perfect on the math section, he missed...70 points? Not that that makes it bad, but I've also heard MIT is a horrible school to LEARN from. It looks good on a resume, but you wont get as good of an education as you would elsewhere.
Apparently some schools don't even look at your SAT scores anymore. You must be joking, what kind of colleges are you talking about? Community colleges? with the SAT-II, you can take tests relative to the subject matter, making them even more important for colleges to look at.
All I know is that they're important for American high school students. If you want to go to an American college, if say you were planning to be an engineer or some other high-paying job, I would suggest finding, and taking one.In my state we do ACTAP in years 3,5, 7, 9 and 11.thats not a college entry exam...

It's naive to think that sheer SAT scores will score you admission into an Ivy League college alone. There can be hundreds of students that get 2200+. Oh, and they're also president of the math club, Valedictorian, and many other honors. Colleges want something that stands out. Something that makes you unique.

Oh, and Pink Floyd is almost right. UC's are pretty annoyed at how SAT's are scored. They won't hold your SAT score against your knowledge, although they do want to look at your scores.

Yep, if you can help the community then they'll let you in because they think you'll help the college, which would be your new "community" once you move into there.

That's been the rage for over 5 years at my primary school.
