Let me tell you how I felt when I went to the slums in Mexico to help build a one-room house. Nobody spat in my face, nobody even gave me a sideways look. Those people were dirt poor, but they were the happiest and most generous people I've ever met and possessions didn't mean a thing to them. I think most of America is rich and spoiled, and it's all our faults that our society is so selfish and materialistic. How much money can you say you've given toward making the world a better place? And how much have you spent on clothes, video games, CDs, iPods etc?

Just because someone is spoiled doesn't mean they're bad. They're just spoiled. As rediculous as that may sound, it's true. The school I go to is full of pretty, wealthy, spoiled white teenagers. Yet they're some of the nicest people I've ever met. Why that is, I have no idea. And it's their parents' fault they got that way in the first place. In case you haven't noticed, just because someone is poor, doesn't make them automatically good either. Just because someone isn't a U.S. citizen doesn't automatically make them smarter, nicer, wiser, or humble. It just means that they live in a different country. There are more than enough examples of this. What stupid people do with their lives is not an excuse to be mad at the world, especially when you could be exherting the exact same ammount of effort focusing on helping people. No, not complaining about how people need help, actually HELPING them. The way you're acting is just as silly, rediculous, and immature as these "spoiled rich people" because you just assume that if you see some kid at your school who dresses better than you, carries around the new... iPod nano (with the colors and what-not), has a blackberry, and get's picked up in an H3, that they're spoiled. No, they're just rich. I honestly think that you're extremely jealous. "How dare they be rich and actually enjoy being rich, and *gasp* take advantage of it!" Yet at the same time you'd be too self-concious/ashamed/embarassed to actually accept a great amount of money because you wouldn't want to APPEAR spoiled and selfish. If your father, or mother, or whatever it is you have is suddenly handed a check for eight-billion U.S. dollars, and accepts it, you'd probably be so pissed you wouldn't even know what to do with yourself. The first thought that would come to your mind is "What were you thinking to accept all that money!" Instead of your first thought being, "Sweet. I wonder which poverty-striken country I should help out first..." You're being just as selfish if not more selfish than those people you say you hate so much. Aside from the fact that you've never even met them.
