View Full Version : Gloom Cookie!
diet poop 10-09-2006, 10:44 PM Anybody else read it/know about it? I was talking to my friend Serena about the usual stuff, you know, telescopes shaped like bongs, zombie rapists at Disneyland, strange dreams, when suddenly I remembered "Hey! You write that Gloom Cookie series!" **dumbstruck look** for I had completly forgotten that Serena was the author of Gloom Cookie. Well, Serena's ending the series very soon, and I figured, "What a perfect time to find out if I'm alone in my love of Gloom Cookie and all its wonderful characters.

It was never published, ever. I think one of his strips made it into a collaboration book that SLG put out, featuring a bunch or random comics by amature artists, but the actual comic was never published in and of itself.
(By the way, I've yet to actually read washboard stanley, could someone contact rehab? I really would like to see it.)

She also writes the "Nightmares and Fairytales" series.

=====
it's kinda kool.
diet poop 10-10-2006, 04:17 PM I'm surprised that none of you have never heard of Gloom Cookie. Gloom Cookie is one of SLG's longest running series. So many of you know so much about SLG I'm quite confused as to how you've never heard of Gloom Cookie or any of Serena's other stuff. It's quite good, I reccomend it.
Ryu-Nacho 10-10-2006, 04:28 PM I don't even know what SLG is, so it's no surprise that I dunno what Gloom Cookie is.
JJEESSSSYY!! 10-10-2006, 04:31 PM yeah whats SLG?
diet poop 10-10-2006, 04:39 PM SLG= Slave Labor Graphics
They're the publishers of comics and series like JTHM, Lenore, Nightmares & Fairytales, Squee, Emo Boy, Invader Zim, all those good things.

NartFOpc 10-10-2006, 08:47 PM I've probably never heard of Gloom Cookie because I'm not Goth/Emo

What does that have to do with it? Do you consider me a goth or **shudder** emo?
You shouldn't judge a book by its cover.
Besides, the series constantly pokes fun at the gothic subculture.

Just because they payed him for the rights to his idea, doesn't mean it was ever published. Look on the SLG website and you'll see that his name, nor the comic is mentioned anywhere on the site.

nickychris3 10-11-2006, 11:21 PM Reminds me of Emily the Strange.
diet poop 10-12-2006, 12:17 AM Reminds me of Emily the Strange.
Wow! Nicky, you read Emily the Strange? I love that comic! From the cover it looks like one of those dark, "gothic" comics, but its just silly and cartoonish.
nickychris3 10-14-2006, 02:12 PM Yeah, I went to a book store once and in the way WAY back where no one went was this full section for abstract art and comic books. Which is where I got introduced to the franchise.
Ilikepandas 10-18-2006, 04:35 AM ..Have I missed something? Is everyone making comics now here or something?
Last year I scribbled up a few comics about "Bruce Triangle Head", who goes on adventures with Tom Jones and Captian Cliche and stuff. I wish there was an easy way to convert these sketches into coloured graphical feats on the computer :(
Here was the 3rd, shortest one about a national day where you can murder people

No, Serena is just a friend of mine. Rehab says that his comic was published, but it really wasn't and Gloom Cookie (Serena's comic series) is ending.
JJEESSSSYY!! 10-19-2006, 04:07 PM lmao at ilikepandas comic... your really great at drawing!
Siriustar 10-19-2006, 05:37 PM I love all of Jhonen Vasquez's comics, but I never really got into any other SLG stuff.
MeTal CaNdYcaNe 10-20-2006, 12:55 PM Gloom cookie sounds vaugely familiar.
A girl I know had a Lenore shirt on the other day.
