I got a new Xbox a week ago, and I am wondering if I should softmod my Xbox so it turns into a computer. The problem is if I do this, I will not be able to use Xbox Live.

Pros:

I am in need of a computer.

I can get free games (Tux Racer, Cube, Rrootage) off the 'net.

DVD playing will work without an adaptor.

The "geek factor" of having an Xbox PC.

I can surf the web, chat, and edit graphics all from my Xbox.

Cons:

No Xbox Live.

No buying games with Microsoft points.

I need Action Replay and Mechassult to preform the mod.

I may have to downgrade my Dashboard.

If xbox live do a scan on your computer and find out you've got a modded xbox you'll lose your account, jusy buy two xbox's there like 40 quid now.

Might as well do it, the regular X-box is crap, but it would be better if you turned it into a PC. Plus, you won't need X-box live if you can still access the internet. As long as you can access the internet you won't really be needing X-box live.

And umm... i wouldn't be metioning getting games for free. Just say back-ups but yeah, soft-mods are great. Most of them don't void the warranty and are pretty easy. Like the slimline pstwo is easily soft-modded in like 5 minutes. and soft-modding is usually inexpensive, like mine was free w/out action replay. go for it man.

edit: o and i love the avatar. subtext, anagram: butt sex. lol

He probably doesn't have a computer that can beat the X-box specs.

When that happens, he should softmod his X-box and sadly he must do it. I mean any computer today, including the cheapest budget built computers can top an X-box.

I hate the new controllers for the 360, i mean i really hate the new xbox pads with a passion there poorly designed and you can't callobrate them either, it makes it damn near impossible to play online the way you use to.

They basically look the same as the old X-box controllers except they added a few new buttons I think, and the other difference is that they're wireless now.

The white and black buttons are now the shoulder buttons, it still has the same amount of buttons.

Well the sides of the controllers are different now cause the point out and don't go down anymore and i can't aim my crosshairs with these pads for some reason.

Well, I just got the first thing I need: An Action Replay card. Now, I need to find a copy of 007: Agent Under Fire.
