My god, my friend kept bugging me about how the PS3 will be sooooo powerful, and I kept telling him that there's no way that it will be that powerful.

Yeah, I suppose if you like an in order two issue core with an extremely long pipeline, and 8 PPEs that keep chip yields extremely low, than yes it's a great chip. At the same clockspeed, a Core 2 Duo would actually be more than twice as fast as the Cell processor. Aside from the fact that the Cell isn't even X86 based, it's still a joke when you consider other microprocessors on the market.
