View Full Version : John Titor, real or a hoax?
Drunken_Shinobi 08-09-2006, 10:09 PM My friend showed this to me and I just wanted to bring it up here. It's hard to explain and it might sound very ridiculous, but it seems debatable.
Pretty much the guy here claims to be a time traveler and tells us what will happen. I can only say that, but seriously read what's on there before saying something like "Oh he's a hoax. Period." Anyways, I'm not going to take any sides on this debate, I just want to see what you guys think.
The long real stuff (http://www.johntitor.com/)
Abridged on Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Titor)
Frookie 08-09-2006, 10:14 PM I think that anyone who says they can travel through time is either telling the truth and is willing to prove it or is a complete nincompoop and a liar at least. Some guy who says that three watches or clocks take him through the ages is really stretching it. To be able to put the technology that would be able to do that into three watches would be impossible because we don't even have time travel for secret government use yet.
nickychris3 08-09-2006, 10:20 PM D_S... this is the internet. That whole site, 'credible' as it may seem, is more likely to be an extremely elaborate prank made up by some attention-starved douche with no life. :glare:
Drunken_Shinobi 08-09-2006, 10:23 PM If it was then they should've found the "douche" a long time ago.
nickychris3 08-09-2006, 10:24 PM Oh come on Shinobi:
"The President or "leader" in 2005 I believe tried desperately to be the next Lincoln and hold the country together but many of their policies drove a larger wedge into the Bill of Rights. The President in 2009 was interested only in keeping his/her power base."
Drunken_Shinobi 08-09-2006, 10:26 PM Yeah I know, just because I post this does not mean I actually believe it. I just want you guys to tell me what you think about this.
nickychris3 08-09-2006, 10:27 PM Is this story connected to any real news media?
Frookie 08-09-2006, 10:48 PM yahoo had a news page about it, but it sounded dumb to begin with
nickychris3 08-09-2006, 10:52 PM Yeah, because we all trust Yahoo! with our world's events.
Frookie 08-09-2006, 11:03 PM they had two whole pages on it, and after the first paragraph, it sounded like a fictional fairy tale
nickychris3 08-09-2006, 11:20 PM Please, one look at that site and you can tell it's fake.
I dunno... but if the guy tells us now, then it's not gonna happen cos people are going to be prepared. I guess we just have to wait and see.
Ryu-Nacho 08-11-2006, 05:19 PM Thats not true. The fact that we prepare for it could be what triggers it. Anyways, it all makes for a good sci-fi story, if nothing else.
treefalse 08-11-2006, 11:45 PM It's a hoax. I didn't need to look through it all.
I predict, something evil will be foiled in the year 2016.
NartFOpc 08-16-2006, 08:28 PM hoax
But I REALLY travel through time!
I'll prove it through predictions.
In 2009 the President of Romania will be pressured to impose heavy tariffs on foreign cheese. However he loves cheese and single-handedly takes down a world-wide terrorist organization and saves the world. The movie about the story is released next year a goes on to become the number 1 movie in the world. He is then elected Pope and head of the UN.
Zetex 08-16-2006, 08:31 PM It is obviously fake.
rehabisforquitters 08-16-2006, 08:37 PM HOAX.
The entire notion of time travel is absurd.
It's impossible, and for one simple reason:
If you went back in time from 2006 to 2004 to...ask a girl/guy out you wished you had, the second that you entered into 2004, it would be illogical to go back in time in the first place, because in 2006, you would have already asked a girl/guy out and therefore would have no reason to go back in time. It would create an illogical situation and the universe would basically implode.
Impossible.
MrNaPaLm32 08-17-2006, 01:09 AM HOAX.

Impossible.or maybe its just that time doesnt go backwards... you can STOP time, but not go backwards.
As for the article. Absolutely positively retarded.
You cant just create a new country out of 3, that obviously dont WANT to be one country. The president would have to have an illogical ammount of military force to fuse the 3 together. And with the troops in Iraq right now, its impossible, aside from the fact that military units are not even answerable to the president. The second problem with it is motive. President Bush is a native Texan, which you know take great pride in their state. Why would he want to merge 3 countries together.
And this made me laugh. The ACTUAL time machine photographs. Anything involving time/space relations requires HUGE ammounts of energy. And here we have something that looks like a coffin with a few cables hanging out of it. Seriously, how can people bellieve this stuff.
rehabisforquitters 08-17-2006, 01:14 AM or maybe its just that time doesnt go backwards... you can STOP time, but not go backwards.
I'm pretty sure that stopping time would also be illogical. First you're here, then you're there. You know?
MrNaPaLm32 08-17-2006, 01:51 AM I'm pretty sure that stopping time would also be illogical. First you're here, then you're there. You know? The faster you travel, time slows down. Once you're traveling the speed of light, time is completely stopped. thats if you dont bellieve einsteins theory, if you do, the ammount of energy to accelerate you to the speed of light becomes infinite, any massive(holding mass) objects cannot travel the speed of light. But still, the closer you get to the speed of light, the more time slows down. Its like the movie Clockstoppers. Good science, and feasible, but the watch thing is dumb.

It would seem that way, that time is slowing down, but it's just that you're going faster than your brain would be used to so it would seem like time is slowed...right?
And also..oh wait, you did say that if you have mass you can't travel the speed of light.
Hellraiser 08-17-2006, 08:39 AM kinda wierd if you ask me
those pics on wici. were obviously inside of a jet craft

And also..oh wait, you did say that if you have mass you can't travel the speed of light.Your energy in your brain travels at the speed of light anyways.
Massive objects by einsteins therory cannot travel at the speed of light, but if in fact matter is trapped energy, at the speed of light, this energy will be moving in the same direction and with the same force as the original object if released.
I'm just going to drop ths because theres just too much to think about.
rehabisforquitters 08-17-2006, 08:24 PM Ha, yes.
I think there would just be a back-and-forth of information going on...which never really does anything.
It would seem that way, that time is slowing down, but it's just that you're going faster than your brain would be used to so it would seem like time is slowed...right?
And also..oh wait, you did say that if you have mass you can't travel the speed of light.
That's what I would've thought. And that basically means no one can travel at the speed of light except light itself.
I think that it's fake because anyone travling from the future coming here would severly affect the time paradoxy thingo and there is no such thing as the future because it changes every second sorta so in short it's a bunch of BS

Religion has nothing to do with time travel.
I never said it did.
MrNaPaLm32 08-19-2006, 01:29 PM I never said it did.My apologies, I misread your post.
