The Power Macintosh and Xserve line have been converted to Intel, and the 12 year era of PowerPC Macs has drawn to a close.
Frookie 08-08-2006, 12:15 AM holy fuck, 2 terabytes of hard drive space?
diet poop 08-08-2006, 12:33 AM holy fuck, 2 terabytes of hard drive space?
I don't think that's possible...is it?
Frookie 08-08-2006, 12:35 AM yes it is, they have 4 hard drive bays, that can have 500 gig hard drives in them each
paranoia 08-08-2006, 04:55 AM 16 GB of RAM?! That's more than the size of my hard drive. But this Mac is designed for graphics designers, like people who use Maya for a living. Then again, you can boot into Windows with this.

You'd be a fool to buy a machine like that from Apple.
I don't think that's possible...is it?
2TB is nothing; there are 750GB perpendicular recording hard drives (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822148134) out now and you could use 4 on their motherboard and another 8 with a SATA2 controller card (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16816131002).

Typo on my part; you can have much more than 2TB of hard drive space.

I can't.
Frookie 08-08-2006, 01:27 PM yeah, and besides, other companies have powerful computers like this one out
MrNaPaLm32 08-08-2006, 05:01 PM yeah, and besides, other companies have powerful computers like this one outhow many computers do you know that support 16GB of RAM. Not many.
(Minus server motherboards)
Frookie 08-08-2006, 05:05 PM none other than this one, but still, there are still computers out that are pretty damn powerful and are similar in technical specifics like this one, but this one is the best I've seen
Heyyou27 08-08-2006, 05:05 PM how many computers do you know that support 16GB of RAM. Not many.
Just about any dual socket motherboard similar to this one?
MrNaPaLm32 08-08-2006, 05:07 PM Just about any dual socket motherboard similar to this one?aka intel server motherboards.
Heyyou27 08-08-2006, 05:19 PM aka intel server motherboards.
Or Dual socket 940 boards; when using 2GB sticks of RAM, ECC is usually required.

Wow...that's like not a lot of HD space. But 16 GB of RAM is definatly a lot.
