poisonedcandy_X 07-15-2006, 09:56 PM Why are the people who draw English shows so much less talented than the people who draw Japanese shows? I mean, I'm sure there are exceptions, but...seriously. Have you ever heard of The Powerpuff Girls? ^_^

Hellraiser 07-15-2006, 09:59 PM Japanese animatoin (anime) is really cool although usually the story of anime shows are (IMO) kinda boring and WAY to crazy
but the anime is really cool
nickychris3 07-15-2006, 10:05 PM Oh God... here we go again.
poisonedcandy_X 07-15-2006, 10:07 PM What do you mean by that...? O_o
nickychris3 07-15-2006, 10:16 PM What do you mean by that...? O_o
Well, for one, who are you to say that these people can't draw? Can you draw this? http://www.liamnet.demon.co.uk/PicturesPPG/BlossomPage/Blossom-ArmsOnHips.png At least every show in the U.S. doesn'y look exactly the same. You can actually tell them apart.
poisonedcandy_X 07-15-2006, 10:18 PM I never said I could. I haven't even tried since I was like eight. But my little sister can draw that, and much better. :closedeye
nickychris3 07-15-2006, 10:23 PM I doubt that.
diet poop 07-15-2006, 10:28 PM The American powerpuff girls are just circles, not that hard to draw. Japanese stuff is usually more detailed.
poisonedcandy_X 07-15-2006, 10:40 PM I doubt that.
Well, I know it's true, so believe what you want. My sister is thirteen, by the way. It's not like she's a baby.
nickychris3 07-15-2006, 10:49 PM Well you could have specified that Diamond. My brother is thirteen too and he showed his work to a Disney animator. He said that if he were only 18 he could have a job there. I believe you now. But that doesn't change the fact that amercan animators are extremely talented at their work. Besides, Japanese animation (which is all actually created in Korea anyway) and U.S. animation are two completely different styles of art, character, and storyline.
Yeah Gook stuff is more detailed because half of it is porn or hentei. American animation is better that's Family Guy
Charles rules you all! 07-15-2006, 10:54 PM I haven't liked to watch anime in a long time, why? I jsut got tired of everything that's fake and that goes for american animation as well. Sure the Japanese version is more detailed, it's only because they have more talented artists and the time to do it. As for Americans just want to make money (most of the time) and hurry things to boost sales whether or not that's a good thing.
nickychris3 07-15-2006, 10:56 PM Family Guy stinks.
Drunken_Shinobi 07-15-2006, 11:07 PM I call this "animetizing" not a real word, but you get my drift.

Cos Japanese are too cool at drawing.
Ryu-Nacho 07-15-2006, 11:18 PM I usually prefer Japanese animation over other types, but you all probably know that. =P
Yeah, you can kind of tell =P. Anyone here heard of Shonen Jump: One Piece?
Ryu-Nacho 07-15-2006, 11:20 PM One Piece animation=ewwwww.
It's the only anime in australia that's been aired now.
Drunken_Shinobi 07-15-2006, 11:23 PM One Piece animation=ewwwww.
Agreed....that stuff needs to get cancelled and the people running it need to get burned alive.
paranoia 07-16-2006, 12:17 AM What I am beginning to hate is that Western cartoons don't take themselves seriously. This is why anime is so popular. There are a couple of exceptions though, but they are also comedy.
Ryu-Nacho 07-16-2006, 01:03 AM Thats true, but the subject matter more at hand here is animation of a cartoon, rather than things like plot, depth, and genre.
Best animations IMO:
Ghost in the Shell: SAC
FLCL
Comedy

FLCL is the greatest damn anime ever.

On Austar we have Pokemon, Dragonball Z, One Piece, Gundam and heaps of other Jap Crap
Family Guy stinks.
Go to hell

I smell a Stewie quote!!
Ryu-Nacho 07-16-2006, 01:41 AM FLCL is the greatest damn anime ever.
I don't know about greatest, but it is a pretty good show.
FLCL stands for? Anyone?
I like Neon Genesis Evangelion as that was the first anime I ever saw and Samurai Champloo.
Ryu-Nacho 07-16-2006, 11:41 AM FLCL=Fooly Cooly
Willy_Wonka 07-16-2006, 12:04 PM That Bobo Bobobo show has a dumb name, but that show is freakin' hilarious. That's like the only anime I enjoy watching.
Anyway, that Powepuff Girls thing.. man, those Japanese people need to stop making us look bad. I guess the way Japanese people draw doesn't "appeal" to most people in the U.S. (or other places for that matter.)
Hellraiser 07-16-2006, 12:05 PM FLCL is the greatest damn anime ever.
agreed
Ryu-Nacho 07-16-2006, 03:20 PM That Bobo Bobobo show has a dumb name, but that show is freakin' hilarious.
Hahahahah, I love that show. If you like that one, you should go out and look for Excel Saga.
nickychris3 07-16-2006, 07:02 PM What I am beginning to hate is that Western cartoons don't take themselves seriously.
Yeah? And anime takes itself too seriously, along with its fans (a good deal lot of them at least).
Ryu-Nacho 07-16-2006, 10:35 PM Sadly enough, yeah. The worst cases are those who've been Narutized. They weare Ninja Headbands, and always say 'Believe it!'. I almost want to slaughter the lot of 'em.
Drunken_Shinobi 07-16-2006, 11:57 PM Sadly enough, yeah. The worst cases are those who've been Narutized. They weare Ninja Headbands, and always say 'Believe it!'. I almost want to slaughter the lot of 'em.
Yeah, they suck a lot. They just don't realize that the Japanese undubbed Naruto is better and also how they're all obssessed with crappy fillers.
bald muffin 07-18-2006, 01:47 PM The first animes were heavily influenced by American cartoons and Disney movies, you often see very "American-like" faces in them.
American shows are actually of pretty high quality, their art style and quality stays consistent throughout all the episodes. But anime quality tends to slack off after a while. Like the last episode of Evagelion, which is basically a slide show. D:
You have to admire the American shows for keep coming up with fresh jokes and material while most anime is just PLOT!+FILLER!+PLOT!+INCONCLUSIVE ENDING!
bald muffin 07-18-2006, 01:53 PM DEAR GAWD FLCL... SO.MUCH.SEXUAL.SYMBOLISM. D:
Great anime though.
diet poop 07-18-2006, 01:55 PM Exactly. Most animes have style, but lack substance. Most American cartoons have a less detailed style, and average substance. Sometimes an anime comes along that has a great storyline, an actual plot, and looks fantasic, and sometimes an American cartoon comes along that breaks the mold, like south park, Invader Zim, Family Guy, Avatar: The Last Airbender, etc. So for the sake of argument lets say that most cartoons either suck or are only average, no matter where they come from. and sometimes a really good cartoon comes along. Everybody agree on that?
bald muffin 07-18-2006, 02:29 PM Indeed indeed.
Avatar: The Last Airbender, now THAT'S a good show!
viper.gtsr 07-18-2006, 02:38 PM Indeed indeed.
Avatar: The Last Airbender, now THAT'S a good show!
My favorite anime show.
bald muffin 07-18-2006, 02:40 PM My favorite anime show.
It's not anime though, it's American-made. Just heavily Asian-influenced.
Ryu-Nacho 07-18-2006, 03:58 PM ...anime quality tends to slack off after a while. Like the last episode of Evagelion, which is basically a slide show. D:
While thats true, it's especially so in a longer series. If you take a short series, like FLCL, and look at it, it's consistently brilliant and well animated. But, when you take a longer series like DBZ or Naruto, the animation is usually only mediocre at best, with lots of filler episodes.
nickychris3 07-18-2006, 06:56 PM It's not anime though, it's American-made. Just heavily Asian-influenced.
No, it's anime. Considering anime is just a fancy a word for cartoons (which makes Spongebob an anime character).
diet poop 07-18-2006, 07:03 PM Avatar: The last Airbender is an american cartoon, made by nickelodean. Anime is a term used in Japan to refer to all forms on animation, reguardless of origin. In most English speaking countries it usually describes animation from Japan, although some non Japanese works are sometimes called anime if they borrow from the Japanese animation style. So technically, Avatar can be reffered to as both anime, and not anime at the same time.
(spongebob however, is obviously not an anime as it does not borrow from Japanese animation in any way, unless you are in Japan, in that case it would be called anime, but so would every other type of animation)
umm... excuse me for that outbreak of logic.
Drunken_Shinobi 07-18-2006, 11:26 PM Indeed indeed.
Avatar: The Last Airbender, now THAT'S a good show!
It's not bad for an American made cartoon. Just that the problem is it should be sold away from nick or something so it can be less kiddish.
diet poop 07-18-2006, 11:28 PM It's not bad for an American made cartoon. Just that the problem is it should be sold away from nick or something so it can be less kiddish.
Oh because thats what every show needs, violence. I like violence as much as the next person, but it shouldn't be a nesessity.
nickychris3 07-19-2006, 01:26 AM I agree. Some nutjob once said that there needs to be more sadness and death in children's programs to "prepare them for real life." :glare: This coming from some anime freak who grew up sheltered and lived a normal happy childhood? This guy doesn't know the first thing about what children need.
MeTal CaNdYcaNe 07-19-2006, 02:36 AM Diamond: That's just the style the Powerpuff girls animators like. It's all based around personal taste and culture I guess. And like Nicky said, not all shows are going to look alike ;]
poisonedcandy_X 07-19-2006, 02:40 AM Yeah, I know. I was just saying that I never see any really pretty animation in American cartoons...^_^ But like I said, there are, of course, exceptions.
The Powerpuff Girls suck some awful.
Firedove 07-19-2006, 03:03 AM American animation isn't for looks its more for comedy entertainment. Though some shows actually do have a nice look thats not why you watch them.
Japanese animation is the same but usually have better looking stuff.
nickychris3 07-19-2006, 03:55 PM Well, thinking about it, would you watch most of the anime you watch if they looked like American animation?
Ryu-Nacho 07-19-2006, 05:39 PM Probably. It'd still be the same stories and characters, just a different art style. No biggie.
Drunken_Shinobi 07-19-2006, 07:04 PM Oh because thats what every show needs, violence. I like violence as much as the next person, but it shouldn't be a nesessity.
I didn't say it needed violence, but that would be kind of necessary but there's already enough action in that show I guess, maybe just need a bit more to make it interesting to me.
