Ok, so I am trying to find a way to convert an swf movie to AVI, MPEG, or some other dvd writable format. The problem:
A) Its very hard to find a simple, free program capable of converting .swf to avi, mov, mpeg, or any of those other ones.
B) If I try exporting the movie from flash in AVI format, the movie clips don't work and just be all...still.

This is very annoying as I just got a new, super multi, uber fast, realy awesome dvd burner. *grrrr...*

well, if you're trying to export actual movies that you have made with FLASH. you know like motion tweens and such. You should be fine just exporting as an AVI. When you do this, actions will be discarded.

If you could inform me as to the content of your flash file that would be great.

Well, its basically just that the timeline effects don't work, and some other little things like that. The problem is I have the finished .swf file, but I accidentily got rid of the .fla project file, so I need a program that can convert it to AVI or something.

Well, you can convert a SWF back into a FLA. But Exporting it to an AVI will remove all the actions from the timeline.

I thought once it was published, there was no going back...you can convert it back. But the problem is, you lose all the names. Layer names, symbol names etc. On an SWF you also cannot have more than one symbol per layer. so your layers will not be the same. Stuff like that.

I expected that.
So, you're saying that if i downloaded an .swf (like something of ABS) i could convert it to a .fla and open it and look at all their work frame by frame?
Is there a program that does that?

You need some skillz in dvd authoring it can be as hard as learning Flash well it took me a while to get too the advanced lvl stages of dvd authoring so good luck lol, and you need a dvd ripper to take small clips off your dvd you can find a free trial at www.download.com they have that many there you could probably live off the free trials and not bother buying them.

flash to video encoder pro (http://www.geovid.com/Flash_to_Video_Encoder_PRO) has an option of dvd burning so everything can be done in one click. it's shareware but free trial is a full version by the way

Well that was a dumb response for your first post (slap yourself) for a start that software doesn't convert your swf to vob files (.vob) which are dvd files it only converts it to shity .mpegs, if i were you i would make my flash movie by exporting the swf then import the swf back into flash and put it on your stage (timeline) then export it as an avi then find some software like IM Too MPeg encoder or DVD Lab Pro which i use myself if you wanna author the dvd like a pro and then bingo you have your dvd.

I think you should convert swf to video first,

search "flash video converter" in google.
