View Full Version : Bonds Hits 715.. Passes Babe Ruth Jes-c 05-28-2006, 06:52 PM http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/5646522?GT1=8202 So is he HOF material or not? Snow 05-28-2006, 07:27 PM As we know, he had a lot of "help", I say no. Led_Zeppelin 05-28-2006, 07:32 PM Like Barry Bonds, I take steroids. Frookie 05-28-2006, 07:50 PM he's not as good as Babe Ruth, Babe Ruth was the greatest hitter of all time, one homerun doesn't make him statistically better than Babe Ruth overall Led_Zeppelin 05-28-2006, 08:08 PM Apparently it does. Chrisprime 05-28-2006, 08:23 PM He still has a long way to get to Hank aaron. He has like 744 or something.:protest: MrNaPaLm32 05-28-2006, 11:41 PM he's not as good as Babe Ruth, Babe Ruth was the greatest hitter of all time, one homerun doesn't make him statistically better than Babe Ruth overallwow. Frookie 05-29-2006, 02:09 AM that is the truth though MrNaPaLm32 05-29-2006, 02:43 AM that is the truth thoughagain... wow he's not as good as Babe Ruthopinion Babe Ruth was the greatest hitter of all timeopinion one homerun doesn't make him statistically better than Babe Ruth overallCompletely Incorrect. I dont see how that makes sense in any way. Thats like saying: Bob has $714. Julie has $715. Therefore statistically Bob has more money than Julie. Frookie 05-29-2006, 01:04 PM again... wow opinion opinion Completely Incorrect. I dont see how that makes sense in any way. Thats like saying: Bob has $714. Julie has $715. Therefore statistically Bob has more money than Julie. NaPaLm, Babe Ruth didn't exist in a time when people were having so many home runs, more and more people are making homeruns today Boong 05-29-2006, 01:38 PM Yeah, he's hall of fame material. Steroids helps with your strength, you still have to hit a 95 MPH fastball coming for you, I'd like to see you guys do that. Frookie 05-29-2006, 02:11 PM Hank Aaron has 11 more, he has 755 homeruns, not 744 MrNaPaLm32 05-29-2006, 07:30 PM NaPaLm, Babe Ruth didn't exist in a time when people were having so many home runs, more and more people are making homeruns todayThats great. Problem is, you used "statistically". Which didnt pertain to the topic at all. Led_Zeppelin 05-29-2006, 10:19 PM NaPaLm, Babe Ruth didn't exist in a time when people were having so many home runs, more and more people are making homeruns today It's not Barry Bonds fault that he was born when he was. Jes-c 05-29-2006, 10:58 PM The thing is... hardly ANYONE paid any attention to Barry Bonds before he allegedly took steroids and he was still a great player before then. Some say his stats then were already enough to put him in the HOF. I think he should be in the HOF... whether or not he took steroids.. who knows! Ok.. he probably did take some. No way you get that big that fast.. no homo Led_Zeppelin 05-29-2006, 11:15 PM Doesn't change the fact that: He's hit a hell of a lot of homeruns. isharted 05-31-2006, 01:41 PM again... wow Bob has $714. Julie has $715. Therefore statistically Bob has more money than Julie. not quite Bob has $714 in 1935. Julie has $715 in 2006. Inflation would put Bob at just under $10k. Of course it's not money we are talking about, but like frookie said, people didn't hit near as many homeruns as they did today. Plus, Bonds is on the juice. Therefore he is a cheater and should have 200 subtracted from his total. (my opinion) Led_Zeppelin 05-31-2006, 05:14 PM What if Bob has $714 USD, and Julie has $715 CDN? Siriustar 05-31-2006, 05:28 PM One must have some skill to hit a home run in the major league. Hitting homers does not completely reflect upon someone's strength, although muscles do help with getting it out of the park... Let him into the Hall of Fame. Frookie 06-04-2006, 10:22 AM he should be, but they need to test him for steroids when he's not thinking about it Snow 06-09-2006, 03:32 PM not quite Bob has $714 in 1935. (my opinion) That's what I was going to say, but my laziness got the best of me. MrNaPaLm32 06-10-2006, 01:56 AM he should be, but they need to test him for steroids when he's not thinking about itIts not something you can detox frookie. Frookie 06-10-2006, 08:48 AM if he stopped using it he could get rid of any traces of it (that's if he even uses it) joshisposer 06-16-2006, 04:52 PM Bonds............................................. .................................................. .................................................. ............................is a needle dick inversecoma 06-18-2006, 07:41 PM Just because not as many players hit home runs in the earlier stages of baseball it doesn't mean that Babe Ruth is "so much better" than Barry Bonds. Just look at the difference in some of the stats: Walks-Bonds:2366+ Walks-Ruth:2056 Bonds has 310+ more walks than Ruth, that's 310+ chances to hit a homer. Off the top of my head that is around 20+ home runs. Home Runs-Bonds:718+ Home Runs-Ruth:714 Here is where people look to tell how good a player is. Lets not forget that getting drunk before a game was illegal when Ruth was playing and he still did it. You might say "But that's not a performance enhancing drug!" Bull****, people who watched and played with Ruth noticed an extreme difference in playing ability when he was drunk. Yes steroids are a more extreme way of enhancing your skills but let us not forget that Ruth broke the law too. Steals-Bonds:506 Steals-Ruth:123 This is a HUGE difference. Stealing a base is probably one of the most under rated things in baseball. Of those 383 more stolen bases that Bonds had, at least 50 of them changed the outcome of the game. Golden Gloves-Bonds:8 Golden Gloves-Ruth:0? Bonds is/was much better at defence than Ruth, he saved many fly balls from being hits and deep fly balls from being home runs. Wins-Bonds:0 Wins-Ruth:94 The fact that a person can go from dominating on the mound (the worst hitting position) to dominating at the plate is astonishing. Overall I think that Babe Ruth and Barry Bonds are probably as equal players as you can get. |
