View Full Version : Ps1 discontinued Liquid_Snake 05-05-2006, 03:44 PM Do you think its right that Ps1 was discontinued or not? Heyyou27 05-05-2006, 03:52 PM The PS1 was discontinued but it has nothing to do with the console sucking. Snow 05-05-2006, 04:18 PM It's a fact that it's been discontinued. The console IS awesome, but not the best ever. Silver Dragon 05-05-2006, 04:52 PM I got my hands on a couple of the PS1's a couple of weeks ago.... Had to take a look inside, and see if I could make one good one out of two faulty..... I am happy they have discontinued the ps1... they are 'ORRIBLE to try and fix. We have the PS2, and the latest generation "Slimline" PS2, the flip-top external power supply one.... its a lot easier to use, and lets be honest here, "Disposable" technology. With the possibility of the PS3 coming soon, if they ever decide to go either "Blue Ray", or "High Definition"..... That is the choice that is holding it up.... its the old VHS vs Beetamax war... which one will Sony choose for the PS3.... whichever one they go for, will sort out whichever drive you are liable to have in anything, as with Sony name behind it, whichever they chose will rule.... So when they release the PS3, they realy dont want the old PS1 holding them back. Good machine, but that was in its time... time to "Retire" the old, I think.... BUT, ALL PS's are "Downwards compatable" with older games, so you loose nothing....... viper.gtsr 05-05-2006, 05:22 PM I got my hands on a couple of the PS1's a couple of weeks ago.... BUT, ALL PS's are "Downwards compatable" with older games, so you loose nothing....... The Ps3 can't play Ps1 games, only PS2 and PS3. Snow 05-05-2006, 08:07 PM The Ps3 can't play Ps1 games, only PS2 and PS3. Damn, some of the Ps1 games were awesome. Heyyou27 05-05-2006, 08:22 PM With the possibility of the PS3 coming soon, if they ever decide to go either "Blue Ray", or "High Definition"..... By "High Definition" do you mean HD-DVD? The PS3 will use blue ray disks simply because it's Sony's product. Drunken_Shinobi 05-05-2006, 09:10 PM Well it's about time they discontinued that PS1 no offense. gwia 05-05-2006, 09:53 PM I have a PS1, even though I am a Nintendo fan, I don't have a PS2 simply because I don't like them and I won't get a PS3 either but yeah. Liquid_Snake 05-05-2006, 10:41 PM Damn, some of the Ps1 games were awesome.I know right? Drunken_Shinobi 05-06-2006, 07:07 PM Man I hated the golf games on PS1. Silver Dragon 05-06-2006, 07:36 PM From HeyYou27 By "High Definition" do you mean HD-DVD? The PS3 will use blue ray disks simply because it's Sony's product. Have they made that decision yet?.... The PS3 was supposed to be released already, but the HD-DVD/Blueray issue was cited as one of the reasons for delay, due to HD-DVD being a better product..... or so it was last reported.....? MrNaPaLm32 05-06-2006, 07:39 PM it comes down to opinon. HD-DVD is going to be cheaper, and more universal. But Blueray has an exponentially larger capacity, and...I cant remember anything else. I think the PS3 should incorperate both. Blueray for games/movies, and HD-DVD for the other movies. Snow 05-06-2006, 08:21 PM Man I hated the golf games on PS1. I was fortunate enough to never own one. Drunken_Shinobi 05-06-2006, 08:53 PM I was fortunate enough to never own one. Not only were they boring but the graphics and physics were like a nightmare. Snow 05-06-2006, 08:54 PM Golf is fun and all, but who wants a golf video game? Not I. Drunken_Shinobi 05-06-2006, 08:58 PM Yeah that too. gwia 05-06-2006, 10:33 PM Nintendo tried to make a fun golf game and made mario golf but it was pretty bad, more fun than regular sport games though but still pretty damn bad. Snow 05-06-2006, 11:23 PM Madden '04 is where it's at. bagel head 05-07-2006, 09:27 AM Na, Madden '06 is better. It's more challenging with the new passing system. Snow 05-07-2006, 05:40 PM It probably is, I only buy the new madden games every few years. Willy_Wonka 05-07-2006, 06:00 PM Gex the gecko was the best game ever on ps1. I thought they wew hilarious. But anyway, i would get a ps3, but I would keep my ps2 so I could play all playstation games. Silver Dragon 05-07-2006, 06:35 PM If you can, try "Burnout 4 Revenge"...... Ok, so its a driving game..... But THIS one allows you, encourages you even, to punt traffic into each other..... Sure puts a whole new slant on "Road Rage"...... Drunken_Shinobi 05-07-2006, 11:03 PM I've heard of that game. I kind of was interested in it because of the fact you just crash a lot of stuff. 279Ness 05-07-2006, 11:34 PM Seriously with the PS1 nowadays they can't be making money off that I'm sure you can buy a refurbished one from EBGames but who will? Drunken_Shinobi 05-08-2006, 08:55 PM The PS1 is old school and can still be a nice thing to have. Liquid_Snake 05-08-2006, 11:17 PM SF2 got me hooked on Playstation. |
