This may sound stupid, but I have a big problem with my c:/ drive. Ok, I'll admit it, I download stuff, 18GB worth. Thats not enough to fill up the 80GB I have, right? I double checked and went through all the folders, and there is not enough there to even remotely fill it up. BUT, when I go to mycomputer>localdisk>properties, it says I have used 74.5 GB out of 80GB.

Can anyone tell me what my problem is?

Youve obviously installed a bunch of stuff too. I don't think it ever lies to you on how much space is used up.

Well I just added the folders in my c drive up, and it comes out to somewhere around 23 GB. This makes sense, because I recently lost all my files.

There is no way I filled up 80GB in 3 weeks.

strange. sounds like a disk volume error. It happened to me all the time on windows ME. i suppose you could download some sort of registry cleaner. I think thats where the information is stored.

go get the trial of that. It'll show you how much each directory is taking up and is a great tool for tracking down what is taking up all your space.

Other than that, I would strongly suggest running scandisk on the drive. Its possible that there are errors on the drive causing it to report space taken that shouldn't be.
