I played it for a bit but got stuck. By the "silver" edition I'm wondering if this game is only a trial though.

This isn't a trial version. The Silver Edition is an upgrade from the original. It has all the bugs fixed, plus if you beat it, you can watch a preview to the sequel, which is currently in the making and should be out sometime next month.
