Old, I saw this before, very interesting though.

its really kind of a dumb idea. cooking oil? who says it has better cooling then water? if you're going to use something better than waster, use FluidXP or Radiator Fluid.

it's cheaper than both radiator and fluid xp and more common.

and it's more common and cheaper than liquid nitrogen, but it looks like there's raw sewage in your tower

It looks like a decent idea, although I couldn't say how it would do over time.

MrNaPaLm32
01-11-2006, 09:29 PM
it would lubricate your pumps... but then again i guess fluid XP is just vegtable oil.... so its the same idea.

not well, if you click a couple pages over, they say it started to heat. and napalm, if it makes you feel better, they did say motor oil would have been a better choice.

lol. " whats cooling your PC man? you seem to be racking up some serious clock speeds!" "Penzoil..."

I saw this article when it was first on tomshardware. I'm not talking about a heat issue. Oh and the rumor on tomshardware forum; the whole thing is fake.

People were talking about the video, when they show them running 3D mark 05 there is no oil touching the CPU heatsink when they start it up, and a passivly cooled heatsink on a FX-55 would be a really BAD idea.

Why is passive cooling bad?

Heyyou27
01-13-2006, 05:28 PM
Why is passive cooling bad?
Well, if the processor doesn't heat up much then no, but an FX-55 heats up a lot. Basically passive cooling means there is no fan on the heatsink, making it silent and require less power; however this could make your processor overheat in seconds.

Hmm, never thought bout it that way, thanks.

MrNaPaLm32

remember tho, the FX-55 has cool and quiet tech, so it might be possible to have just a heatsink(unless you game a lot).If i had the money, i would get a phase change cooling from somebody like prometia. but those are like $800. whereas you could get a nice peltier for say... $20? sub zero cooling. great price.

Hahaha. Are you serious? Cool and quiet isn't nearly as great as you're making it out to be. I have it on my processor and it still heats up quite a bit. Not good enough to allow use of a passive heatsink, even though it is still a nice improvement.

uh... downclock to 1.2 GHz on Idle is pretty good. half the energy consumption. and, based on power sonsumption charts, the FX-55 does a lot better than other processors.

i could put up a thread about the cool colors of ram chips, and you guys would start talking about downclocking.

So thats what my dad put in the computer and he said they were memory sicks.
No wonder This computer has 1.0 GB of ram....

Well they ran 3D Mark 05 so I don't believe that's idling.

Definetly not.

MrNaPaLm32
01-14-2006, 01:03 PM
is uses lesss power than the 3.0GHZ intel P4. HERE (http://www.gamepc.com/labs/view_content.asp?id=p4ee373&page=3)

uber_jedi

That makes it better than the P4.

MrNaPaLm32
01-14-2006, 01:14 PM
obviosly. so i would say "cool and Quiet Tech" is a BIT more useful than you might think.

I love my AMDs, but I won't lie about their true ability.

MrNaPaLm32
01-14-2006, 01:50 PM
yes, sure higher clock rates are better. bit what I never exactly understood was how AMD's processors have generally a lower clock speed, but still manage to beat intel. is it the L2 cache?

AMDs do more operations per clock cycles. It's the same way a 7800 GTX at 625MHz would destroy a X1800 XT at 625MHz.

i swear. if microsoft catches you. im not going to be around. if you have service pack 2, security center monitors your memory for that process.

its ths one right?

smart?
imagine if you wanted to upgrade your sound card? or add any kind of pci card or ram.....you'd have to drain it and get your hands all greasy
also, it would be a ***** if it started to leak
/me gives thumbs down

MrNaPaLm32
01-14-2006, 05:32 PM
well you dont have to completely disasemble your setup to upgrade your sound card. you could just carefuly take the water block off with the hoses still on it. =/ (bad idea)

That is it exactly. It works very well.

MrNaPaLm32

unfortunately you cant activate the product with keys found by that program. you need to crack the registration.

uber_jedi
01-14-2006, 07:00 PM
Yeah, but instead of doing that, just get a job at a computer place and look inside the box with whatever product you need!

MrNaPaLm32
01-14-2006, 07:03 PM
and get spotted by store security. or you could do it in the back room.

uber_jedi
01-14-2006, 07:12 PM
Or at night in the product storing room.

MrNaPaLm32
01-14-2006, 07:15 PM
people generally dont work at stores at night...

uber_jedi
01-14-2006, 07:19 PM
That is why it is such a good plan! You would sleep/hide in the store room until night.

MrNaPaLm32
01-14-2006, 07:20 PM
then sneak in where the motion detectors set off the silent alarm

uber_jedi
01-14-2006, 07:27 PM
Before that, you must place duct tape on the sensors so that they never notice any movement.

MrNaPaLm32
01-14-2006, 07:29 PM
that are, say.... 40 ft above you on the roof?

uber_jedi
01-14-2006, 07:41 PM
Fine then, bring a shotgun with you and blast them off the ceiling.

MrNaPaLm32
01-14-2006, 07:59 PM
they have motion sensors in there too. its impossible unless you do it in the day, and your in the storage room.

Then we will need to find a way to become invisible. Or pack a lot of heat...and ski masks. (so they don't know who we are)

I would get other stuff too, of course. Maybe before that we could hijack some armored truck so we can load a whole bunch of stuff that we want in them!
Heyyou27 is welcome to join us.
