It's a mating thing if I recall correctly. Sounds are how they attract each other, and it's only the males jumping. When he knocks the side of the boat, they all think he's a female and start jumping for it.

Hei it's a braziliam tv show (i never saw). Rondônia is a state! The video is funny, but the reporter is stupid.The man says that it is a nature reserve, protected by the law.The area is a fish nursery, the fish are new, they grow and they swim for another area of the river, where they are fished.

i joined the forum just so i could post this anecdote of mine, it very much pertains to flying fish...

if anybody here knows about fishing for salmon in the NW of the USA, well, u you will know that there are none/not enough to fish for...so every year or two, i go fishing for salmon in alaska, on one of those islands near Ketchekan, and every year i go, a fish does one of a few things...
1) jumps in boat, honestly, it just jumps right in, with no help...
2) not only jumps in the boat, but hits somebody on the way in...oddly it's usually the head...they have good aim...
3) a seal eats a fish off our line, i swear to god, its true, hook, fish, and just bites the line

just to show fish are stupid everywhere...

Hahaha, yeah those are a kind of fish that are semi-blind. They live most their life in dark cave like areas. When light shines brightly in their eyes they freak out cause they're so used to the dark. In Ky mammoth cave, people used to do that and, fish would flop out of the water like that. Pretty funny, Ky is cave country.

Oh. I saw this video and I was wondering who posted it, a brazilian video wich prolly nobody could understand what the guy said.
Basically, they go to the river Mequens in Rondonia (Brazil).
He wants to show the beauty of the river and warns that the river is a nursery of fish and nobody is allowed to fish there.
The fish stay there untill they get older and put their eggs there then go to another river where people are able to fish them.
