I'm surprised so many people think Windows is good...and no one has voted for OS X/Darwin.

windows is good. if you consider the ammount of stuff they have to handle as an organization, its astounding.

Linux is the best. I am typing this without an antivirus program running. Still needs some more games ported to it, though. As of now Linux oonly has the Quake, Doom, and Unreal series of games.

ive used a realy flippen old mac before (it had microsoft works on it) ubuntu debian and realos on vmware and windows xp
the stuff i ran on vmware was nice but im not realy considering switching from windows right now (i still use oo.org and gimp though and cant forget firefox)
if i did switch the only thing that would bug me is using wine to play/watch something in flash (which i have yet to do) i know that flash 9 will be ported to linux though so that might change my vote and a few others here but for now windows remains

You can download Flash on Linux via Firefox. Also, Ubuntu's repositories contain Flash.

And sadly, Doom3 on Windows XP actually performs better than it's Linux counterpart.

I am running a CS:S Server on Ubuntu Linux with no GUI. It is very good.

Sigh...I wish I can play CS:S now, but my little brother messed up the video settings and now I don't know what to do to fix it. Well anyways, Linux is an OS that's specialized for running servers, so yeah it should be good for what you're doing with your CS:S server.

I think it's abou 1 percent, and 3 in Europe. What's stopping Linux from getting higher marketshare is politics. Many people who write programs for Linux hate closed-source programs, saying that they can make an open-source version themselves. But this is a problem with hardware drivers, which are almost always closed-source. That's why there are only 2-3 Linux distributions that come with ATI and NVIDIA drivers. Then there is the fact that there are too many incompatible programs in Linux, and that there are too many programs in some places and not enough in others. We do not need 12 calander applications, 5 package managers and 4 word processors. What Linux users need is an Exchange replacement, an open-source copycat of iLife and some more games.

I don't know of many who do, most of the kids at my school aren't tech savvyDoubt it, considering you have multiple web design classes, and programming classes as well.
