Wi-Fi is an area internet connection, not something that you can buy.

WiFi means "wireless fidelity", and it's just another name for a wireless internet connection.

To connect to WiFi on a DS, you can either use your existing wireless internet connection if you have wireless inernet in your house already, or you can buy a Nintendo WiFi USB connector which plugs into your computer and makes it function as a wireless router.

You also need a WiFi-compatable game. There are currently 3 available: Mariokart DS, Animal Crossing: Wild World, and Tony Hawk's American Sk8land (the one nobody plays :P). There is no other purchase necessary. The game does the rest (WiFi hardware is built-in the DS).
