View Full Version : I have a suggestion.
nickychris3 12-19-2005, 02:49 PM Lately (well, for months actually) it seems that gprime's been carrying a lot of dead weight, because a ton of people every day join just to look at gaming hacks and never come back again. So, maybe the General Game Discussion forum should just be deleted all together?
guess_who_i_am 12-19-2005, 03:17 PM no maybe you should only be aloud to view it if you have 50 posts or something that would stop dead weight, and clear out all members that have under 25 posts.
nickychris3 12-19-2005, 04:13 PM Or we could just disallow new people to join for a few weeks. Or is that possible...?
treefalse 12-19-2005, 06:39 PM There's not much we can do about the gunz people, so we just stick them in the gunz forum.
Charles rules you all! 12-19-2005, 06:47 PM so far you are the only one bothered by this, therefore, it wont happen.
guess_who_i_am 12-19-2005, 07:45 PM No I think it is annoying too because the other day I was trying to trifle through the members list to find a member but then I couldn't find it because of all that damn dead weight so they should be banned or deleted or what ever.
Charles rules you all! 12-19-2005, 08:44 PM mabye gprime should make a temperary, user file, Like a guest user file for gunz....Kind of hard to explain but sounds like a good Idea.
treefalse 12-19-2005, 09:03 PM Or maybe a "Here for gunz" selection so they don't show up on "member list"... Well, Blackice is the HTML guru, so we'll see what he has to say.
blackice 12-20-2005, 11:39 AM I've been trying to stay out of this for reasons I wont explain, but I feel the need to make a response.

Did you try using the search feature?

There's much more than HTML going on here. There is a very complex system of PHP scripts, and they are very sensative as far as errors go. If any error at all gets introduced, it just flat refuses to display the page. It makes things very difficult to debug when trying to modify things.
I do not feel that discriminating against people just because they are here for the Gunz forum is fair to them, or anyone else here. What about the people that signed up just for the arcade? Or the people that have signed up just to make a post in one of the front page update threads? Or sign up, post to the introduction forum and never return? Where do we draw the line saying "This one thing is okay, but this other one isn't"?
I've set things up to try to minimize the effects of people that sign up, have few posts, and never come back. You must have at least 5 posts to even show up on the member list. Inactive member accounts are deleted on a regular basis. As long as people follow the rules, I for one will not be taking any action to ban or isolate them just because they choose to stay in one specific area of our boards.
rehabisforquitters 12-20-2005, 05:50 PM I think that people who have been here for more than a month and have under fifty posts should be booted from the forums.
treefalse 12-20-2005, 08:58 PM Yeah, blackice is probably right. We can make due.
Ruskie 12-21-2005, 02:02 AM here is my idea, set up the site to delete unused areas anywhere after so many days like 1-2 weeks as an example, i'm not saying entire sections but just threads that are no longer in use be deleted after a short amount of time, this will also save us some space if we ever need it
Charles rules you all! 12-26-2005, 04:01 PM but some times that cause people to not find what they found on the forums before and they get fustrated...IE: "post your crappy pic here/or good ones" I never found that thread again.:(

I don't think that this is entirely fair, what about the people who dont get much of a chance to go on gprime but they like to. I mean, there parents might be working or something. Look at me, i have a lot of school work to do and i manage to find some time to go on gprime but, its not that often.

but this, on the other hand would be a great idea.

Not everyone subscribes to every thread, and posts every day.
