Xbox 360 Crashing Like Mad?
>> Jsgongwon, one of our forum members, reported that his newly bought Xbox 360 keeps crashing while playing Project Gotham Racing 3 in single player mode.
He's playing with the default settings, and apparently his Xbox crashes even before the end of the first lap. Crashes on Xbox Live and on startup occur too. He included screenshots of the crashed Xbox 360 (see below - more pictures on flickr.com) and a video of the crash here(9MB) (mirror: here(2MB XviD))
A quick look on our forums (more and more) seems to indicate he's not the only one. Several of our members seems to get crashing 360s. It doesn't seem to be related to a specific game, as we get reports of the Xbox 360 crashing with several games. And it's not all the same Error-number either (E79, E74, E64, real crashes, ...).
I quickly checked over at TeamXbox and they also have a large thread and poll about defective Xbox 360s.
It's a bit early to guess what's exactly going on here (software, hardware, heat problem, 'user errors', ...) or how big the issue really is. We'll report back when we have more. If you have issues with your Xbox 360 too, report it!

I agree, most first person shooters now are boring...but the old ones are not that much better.

RPG's, Real time stratagy,fighting games, puzzle games,and last but not least Dance dance revolution(yes, its a type of its own)

Back to the subject: Yes, I knew the X-box 360 would fail as did the sega dreamcast(which is a great system by the way)

While not a big fan of DDR(at all) I think most of those genres are good. MMORPG's, RPG's, RTS, Strategy, Civilization 4 and the like, puzzle (see tetris/lumines), and FPS are all genres I enjoy. But the Halo series seems to suffer from the same players as all Blizzard games do. Actually, all xbox live games do, though Halo with a more powerful concentration.

Never, ever, ever buy a console that JUST came out. you need to wait a few moths... maybe almost a year for all the bugs to be worked out.

Microsoft even understocked the system in stores so it would look like it was sold out. The local Wal-Mart here only had 50. And 30 of those were just the core system.

After the PSP (which is very good I must admit) I think the PS3 is going to rule, with the 360 coming in dead last.

Although, they're still selling like crazy over here.

EDIT: Just saw an Ebay ad, "The 360 is never sold out on Ebay". Wonder why.

I'm getting my new gaming system this thursday and I'm betting it'll be better than the Xbox360. ;)

Don't bother, it's bad material. The problem with over heating is because the system has 3 processors (well, one 3xCore processor) and people think it's like old consoles and requires little circulation, so they put it in crampt areas. If they were smart and read the manual they would see they have to give it plenty of ventilation and not have anything here the powersupply. I plan on buying one simply for Elder Scrolls IV (and I have a 720p TV in my basement), whether or not I agree with MS's business practices, they have made one hell of a machine.

See I am one of the smartest people in my class and if I can't understand that then those simple minded ninnies won't be able to.

I can't play any game that requires a controller. My hands don't work that way. WASD, CTRL, Shift, Space, and the mouse are what I use.

I'm quite sure America is tired of new released games of a fat, old, hairy italian man. Then again, some of the greatest games made were some of the oldest.
