Which is worse? To die or to be raped. I am not asking which is the worst to do, but rather which act in and of itself is worse.

To get things started. I for one have put forth that rape is worse for the long term effects it has on the victim, where as murder is horrible the victim is no longer alive and will suffer no more.

I left out male or female because generally rape of a male is rare. I'm amazed the topic of gender was completely void in the previous discussion >_> it had nearly 200 posts. I think most would assume female becuase they are the prominent statistic in rape cases.

Excuse me? Smaller brains??I don't think girls are any less smart than guys. To be honest, I'd definately say rape would be worse because the lasting emotional and psychological effects, at least with murder the relatives woulds suffer emotionally, but would get over it.

rape would be worse because if a female is raped there is a chance they will get pregnant and that may cause problems for the victim in the fact they would have to choose whether to keep the memory of being raped and have the child or have an abortion which usually leaves an emotional scar and if not then they may get an stdplus the experience in itself causes pain.

if the victim is male it would still leave a "scar" however it would depend on the person and once again the topic of std's comes in.

so i say rape because if someone is murder they suffer but they do not have to live with the memory however the family and friends of the deceased suffer but they eventually recover. eventually.

well, both are bad, but I guess rape is worse. Because of the chance of getting pregnant and everything. Most of my friends (the ones that are girls, obviously) would never have an abortion, and having the baby would just be a reminder of being raped. Also, especially if you're a teen, having a baby can completely destroy your life. And (I don't know if saying this is going too far, but it's true) also, it would be even worse if you were a virgin... because this might sound funny to guys, because they can't possibly understand, since it's obviously not the same for them, but you can never get that back...anyway, I think rape is worse, because I'd rather be murdered, and that's what I'm going by...

Thank you, but i used a different site to what you probably used and i am actually a girl. Please bear that in mind!

I would now say that rape may seem worse because of the emotional scars whereas murder seems better because the person doesn't live with it. But if it's death through torture, both are just as bad as the other and if it's attempted murder, like a blow that knocks through to the brain, attempted murder is worse because the victem is often left with a hole or some other disfigurement which they can't conceal.
Wait... no rape is still just as bad because in both cases, the victem is both physically and emotionally scarred and in both cases, they are often scared to leave the house in fear of another attack.
But then, murder might be worse if say the rape victem was on drugs or drunk because it would be their own fault for making themselves so vunerable. And often they can't remember the incident because they are so delerious.
So... both are just as bad as each other given the circumstances. It just depend how you look at it.

So far I'm seeing alot of people arguien for rape. In the other discussion I had over this is was taken that murder was worse because the person is dead and isnt living anymore. They all put forth that while rape scarred a person they were alive and therefore it wasn't as bad. At least here I got a better balance of ideas.

The funny thing is...my english class is talking about rape because we're reading a novel called Speak.
Anyways...I think rape is worse because rape literally dehumanizes the victim. Also the victim that is raped is more of the criminal than the person who raped him/her.

:huh: well, my friend had a baby after she got raped, because she didn't want to have an obortion and kill an innocent baby. Then she had to drop out of school. That kinda ruins your chances of getting a good career. Also, it was really embarrasing. But she knew the guy, and when her mom took him to court, she lost because he used protection. So everyone thought she was just lieing so she wouldn't get in trouble for the baby, and they all were on his side. And she was a virgin, which made it worse, since she wanted to wait until she got married. Getting a disease would be bad, but it wouldn't ruin every part of your life. I mean, it could, but getting pregnant would be worse. But then I guess you wouldn't understand that, since it could never happen to you... :mellow:

Her doctor said the reason she got pregnant was that even though he used protection, there was probably a hole in it. My feelings exactly. A friend of mine was raped by her step-grandfather when she was 8. She always behaved...well...peculiar. Got into drugs.

I was raped and I will say that if given the choice, I would rather be raped a million times again than be killed. Life is more precious than protecting my goodies from perverts.
