View Full Version : Dang sprites, anyways...

I've been having problems with using sprites. I've done it plenty of times before, but I'm starting to have some odd complications.
I am editing the sprite sheet and everything in flash, and am getting each individual piece needed for the animation, so on, and so forth...
Anyways, any piece I need I turn into a symbol. Shouldn't be any trouble at all. But when I go to edit the symbol, it turns into some other, compeletley different picture. This is after the first thing I do to the symbol.
I realize that isn't very clear, so I'll say it like this:
You have a Ryu *Street Fighter* sprite you want to use. You turn it into a symbol. You go to edit it, and, out of nowheres, it's Etna! *Disgaea*

Anyone know whats up?

I'm not so sure about what im reading but once I comprehend what your saying I might have an answer.
Edit: so you edit a sprite then it changes for some reason? Are you doing things frame by frame?

When I try to edit the sprite, it's as a symbol. And I'm actually working inside the symbol, so this is a viable option. Once the sprites have been edited proprely, I will link them together in a fbf movie clip.

Can i see the published version maybe I can figure something out...

Eh...hmmm...the published version isn't where the problem is. It's the .fla thats having trobule. My first thought was that the problem was caused by the number of symbols and imported objects in the file, but I can't work on it properly in another .fla when it's by itself. I've found that it still randomly replaces it self.

well i just went though some turtorials and I think that the symbol itself is the problem....Try making an completly new one and see if it works then

I'm trying to get the motions of his fireball. But, for some reason, I can't edit all of it properly on my computer.
*Maybe it's because I have a cracked version? Uh-oh...:P*

Hey, I got it to work for me its probably just your program...here is a small clip from the sprites you gave me...ryu (http://abs.gprime.net/showflash.php?name=ryu&w=550&h=400)

Cool...do you think you could export that as a gif for me? I'll be sure to credit you for it in the flash once I get around to making it. XD

Yeah just give me a lot of time to get it fixed in the frames,( I have to enlarge the sprite so it would look correct in the gif) ...also what size would you like the Gif to be?
Edit:Ok I think these sprites just went crazy, watch
I just edited the clip I made, and now its just messed up...Is this the problem you had?

Ryu-Nacho

No, my problem was different from that. But that is a very odd glitch you have goin'.

Yeah now I have to fix that, then figure out why...

Just trace the bitmap once imported and set the threshold to pixils. Instant glitch free spites. Seriously. Do it. Just do it. Thats what I did in the "I hate sprite movies" film and it works

Ryu-Nacho
11-20-2005, 10:39 PM
So, you want me to trace the sprites? Is that what you're saying?

Ilikepandas
11-23-2005, 11:01 PM
yes. yes I did just say that didn't I? Don't forget when tracing to set the colour threshold to pixils. That way the sprites are now drawings in a flash movie and can be better animated/manipulated

Ryu-Nacho

So, uh...wheres this color threshold thing at, anyways?
