*Gee Ryu, you sure are creating a lot of threads lately...*
Yes yes, I've created more threads this week than I have during my whole stay at G-prime. :P

Anyways...
I was wondering if anyone here does any kind of volunteer work? I was just curious, because my schedule is loaded with volunteer work of all sorts for a while. In general, I help out at a local church and library. Some more specific things that I do include:
YAAC: A library program I participate in. It involves helping the library to decide web page layouts, and the general layout of the library itself. We take home advance copies of books, read and review them, then return the reviews; these are sent off to the authors and publishers, so they can see what average kids think instead of big-time guys who live off of reviewing books. And this November, I'll be reading a book to little kids during YAAC.
Dinner and a Show: Something going on at church tonight. Normally, I would do whatever heavy lifting/moving needs to be done; however, because of my recent injuries, I will be operating the sound board and lights tonight. It's a fundraiser for our youth group at the church.
The Great Pumpkin: Another event at church, which will be held Halloween night. I will most likely be supervising the moonwalk outside, and put out small fires caused by candles in paper bags, like last year. >_< At The Great Pumpkin, volunteers dress up in not-too-scary costumes, and host activities for little kids in the area. We also, of course, pass out loads of candy. Local news crews always stop by, and do get a little footage of the event.

Thats everything I'm doing in the near future. Anyone else do volunteer work?

I used to do volunteer work for the counties local band but, I graduated and realized I hated doing volunteer work. So now, I just roam the net in search of whatever tickles my fancy.

When I was helping the band, I'd clean up the props and help organize things so they'd have their equipment ready when they needed it, did that for 2 years then joined the band.

Other then that, I don't remember doing much of any volunteer work, except helping members of the CTH site with their computer problems every so often. Good site too learn about computer technology. Along with the perks here and there.

What kind of perks do you get? I wouldn't think that help if your computer ever decides to explode or something would be very good, as your helping a free computer help and support group in the first place XD.

A faster computer, updates on OS software, tons of tweaks that work, friendly moderator greetings and, free hijackthis reviews. That's just naming a few free things they offer.

I'm looking into volunteering, not old enough to get a job, but I think I can pitch in during my free time.

I see the point of community service, and helping would very likely make me feel good, but i dont for a few reasons:

I work 10pm to 5 am, sleeping during most of the daylight hours.
What time i can manage is spent with girlfriend who has the opposite schedule.
Things im interested in (library, computers, etc) generally only come about as paying jobs.
I'm lazy.

Yeah, it's hard to balance a lot of things at once. Along with my volunteer work, I have to try to squeeze in my job (5am-3pm), my family, my friends, my girlfriend, and a little freetime. *Necessities are squeezed in, of course*
