here's what's going on in gprime world:

i thought it was possible to wait out the overloading problem of having the forum on the same machine as the main site, but it seems the problem is only getting worse. over the last week, and the next couple days, it will be frusterating trying to connect to the site, and especially the forum (and especially at peak times). instead of waiting for the new site to be ready to fix this problem, we decided to fix this problem now. in a couple of days we'll probably have the new server up and running to distribute the ever increasing user load. both the main site, and especially the forum, should run much better after this.

where are the updates? well, hopefully if all goes well with the new server, we should have enough resources to go back to frequent updates. i really miss them as much as you guys :) you guys can speed the updates along if you post in a sticky i made about your favourite submissions (in the "submission" section). it's hard for one person to siphon through 100's of submissions himself (sometimes, omittingly, missing some), so all help is appreciated and welcomed.

as for "anything else", you'll have to just wait around and see. we have no ETA at the moment, since development is a little slow.

Ok, well thanks for some-what clearing that up, john. Good luck with everything... I see you need it.

If you all didn't notice, the server crashed yesterday. It was offline for a good part of the night, and intervals throughout the day. It's nearly 3am where I am, and I have spent most of the night moving the site to a better server to keep it running for now.

First thing I notice: Holy cow. Before the server ran at 100% CPU constantly. On the new server, it is using less than 1%. It seems to be running as smooth as butter!

I guess this proves that there was a problem with the old server as we suspected.

Thanks to everyone whos been sticking with me throughout this very unfortunate summer.

Time for sleep, goodnight :)
