View Full Version : New Zelda has been Delayed
foulplay 08-16-2005, 02:22 PM Some bad news for Zelda fans from Nintendo. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, which had been expected out later this year for the GameCube, has been delayed until 2006.
Zelda developers need more time to finish the game, said Ron Bertram, vice-president and general manager of Nintendo Canada.
The title was expected to be Nintendo's cornerstone this year. The Canadian arm of the company planned to spend 30 per cent of its 2005 marketing budget on the Zelda game for GameCube, with Bertram hoping to sell more than 250,000 copies in Nintendo's fiscal year (through March 31, 2006). That would have likely made it the bestselling game of the year in Canada.
"It's not good news short-term for everyone who was expecting it," Bertram acknowledged Tuesday from Vancouver.
"So short-term obviously, our software sales will go down a little bit. But the beauty of a game like that is whenever you launch it, it sells a lot . . . When we launch it in 2006, it will sell great guns. But (game producer Eiji) Aonuma needs more time. So they're giving it to him."
An announcement on the exact release date is expected later this year.
Footage from Twilling Princess, shown at the E3 trade show earlier this year in Los Angeles, showed a darker, more adult Zelda adventure.
The young hero Link, last seen in the smooth cartoon-like Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, has grown up. Now a goat shepherd, he finds himself drawn into new danger when he ends up in a twisted version of the kingdom of Hyrule.

What did I say? It was going to be delayed.
Heyyou27 08-16-2005, 03:13 PM I really don't care at all about the new Zelda game. I mean it looks alright, but I won't lose any sleep over not having it this year.
Oh and foulplay, have you tried F.E.A.R. yet? Quite addicting in my opinion.

Nope, I've yet to try it. I haven't played many new games this summer. Been too addicted to Battlefield 2.

I like Battlefield2...but I can't sit and play it for more than an hour. I never play in stat tracking servers. I don't enjoy the RPG style of leveling up. Yes, I know that almost all servers don't have global unlocks enabled, but I still like the idea of everyone being equil, where skill is what makes you win, not rank.
foulplay 08-16-2005, 04:00 PM Most of the unlocked items actually aren't much better. Like the assault gun is stronger, but it doesn't have a grenade launcher, which I use about as much as the gun itself. So then you can barely do any damage to vehicles. The new sniper rifle is only good for taking out people in vehicles (mainly black hawk pilots if you're good) because it has a much slower firing rate than MEC's and is only slightly stronger than USA's. From what I hear, basically it is usually a balanced gun that they give you. You sacrifice firing speed for armor penetration, little trade offs like that.
Foul. Full corporal
Edit: Not sure if you meant to but you spelled United States wrong in your information there.....O_o;

I've used all of the unlocked items. The special forces gone is very good, along with the medic's, which can be used as a sniper due to it's scope.
Also, yes I did mean to spell it incorrectly, that's why it's in CAPS.

Next gun I'm planning on getting is the medic. I figured that was intentional, but just wanted to check... :-P

Doubtful it will look better, just now it will be complete. Though trust me some games get pushed out even when not complete *cough FFVII* I love FF7 to death but they didn't add all of the content they wanted to as they were required to release it sooner.

It won't look better. I'm sure it's already pushing the Gamecube to it's limits.
mentalskater 08-17-2005, 04:40 AM there are already theories why it was pushed back. and there have been other announcements on other sites. they are pushing it back to the release date of ps3, microsoft is doing the same for halo 3 or that is the release date. the theories say that nintendo and microsoft are trying to disrupt the sales of the sony system. and they will not release it for the revolution, because the system will be backward compatible, the later revolution owners will still be able to purchase the game and play it. they want their cube owners to get what they have been waiting for.

superfly 09-11-2005, 07:38 AM Im guessing it will be worth the wait. I really doubt it will be the final Zelda title especially when Nintendo's fortunes are so low.
foulplay 09-11-2005, 11:43 AM There is no way you could be 26 and that stupid....
