I for one like these rules. The game will be much more exciting, a lot more goal scoring and no triple overtime drag-ons. I am a die hard hockey fan and would live with the other rules too, but these will help ratings and sales. I am just glad to see it back.

Isn't the "triple overtime drag-on" or continuous 20 minute period overtime still in effect? I'm pretty sure that the shootout only applies during regular season and if there is no winner after a 5 minute overtime period. As for me, I enjoy the continuous overtimes during the playoffs. Its an adrenaline-rush and I love the "omg" moments when a goalie makes an incredible save to keep the game going for another hour. But I may be wrong, shootouts may happen in the playoffs...
