When you have the sound file imported, when adding it to your timeline don't set it to "event" set it to "stream" then it will stay in sync with your movie.

Sadly- I only just realised this

And another comment if it's more than 10 sec and your having probs split it up into lots of different files it makes it easy to get everything into place.
