Look at the picture with a line of the same color connecting them. (the line actually appears to have a gradient effect, but pay close attention, and you'll come to your senses. This is an extremely effective optical illusion that tricks your brain into thinking that the cylindrical object is casting a shadow on the surface. The fact that it is tiled makes your brain very confident that A and B are different colors, when, in fact, the shadow makes them the same color. When I first saw it (like 4 years ago), I could've sworn A was lighter. And FYI, that's a REEEALY old illusion from addictinggames.com that I would've expected everybody with an internet connection to've seen by now... Edit: if you don't believe that the line is all the same color, cover up the area left and right of the line with your fingers.
