it wasn't a blog, but thats how it works.

google crawls the web and finds "keywords" for links. if it sees a certain word used like 100 times for the same link, it will remember it. so a chain of blogs would link to bushes site with the word "failure" so many times, that it sort of "rigged" the google results.
