EDIT: I just read further and it says that you'll have to insert a disc to use Netflix on the PS3. That's fucking retarded, and basically makes me lose all interest. Why would it have to be a disc when they could simply have it be an application you install to the hard drive that appears on the XMB like folding@home, Photogallery, Web browser, Home, etc. ?

I heard it was gonna be like 9 bucks a monthYou have to pay for Xbox Live Gold to use Netflix, on top of the $8.99 a month fee for Netflix itself. On the PS3 you will only be required to pay for Netflix itself. Sorry if I was not clear in my first post.

Well...it seems interesting that NetFlix is hitting the PS3 but yeah...it does seem pretty ridiculous that it has to be on a disc. I mean PS3 already has the free PSN service going on, why can't they distribute it that way?

I mean PS3 already has the free PSN service going on, why can't they distribute it that way?Offering it as an application via PSN would violate the terms of their current "exclusivity" deal with Microsoft, so the disc is just their way around the contract until it expires. Netflix has stated they will offer a Netflix application via PSN sometime in 2010.

Ah...I see so it's legal issues that force Sony to distribute NetFlix through an inconvenient disc.
