and tried my hand at making fake gore n blood wounds for independent films... i thought i did pretty well.... the first few tries had a couple problems but i've solved those and i am uber proud of the results..

first attempt... i tried making a big gash near my elbow but it turned out too obvious... also the skin tones i used to paint over the prosthetics were WAY off... but i'm pretty proud of the fake blood and the graze like wound up near the wrist...

closeup of the graze.. although its a bit blurry it still seems pretty gory.. i freaked out some innocent and unknowing bystanders with that..

i did this last night... and at the last minute decided to get creative and put the nail in there... although it looks a bit shallow, it still seems pretty frightening and now i know for next time to anchor it deeper into the fake skin

again the nail shot... i was REALLY happy with this..

i did these to my girlfriend last night as well... she was interested and i was eager to try making some gore on someone else's arm for a change..

she took it home and freaked out her little sister

btw, all of this was made with household products.. i didn't use liquid latex, store bought blood or fake skin, stick on ulcers or even makeup for skin tones...

so anyway what do we think?

they are good :)
it looks wierd with the random brush ways
and a wound goes inwards not out..
but keeping in mind that you only used household products, i think they are amazing..

It makes me squeamish, which is the point I guess, but those are really good.

Try a head wound next. Speaking from experience here; they're very fun to do.

i wanna put a nice big gash across my forehead.. but again i wanna perfect it before i do so... otherwise, i'll have something vaguely resembling a bloodied vagina on my face...

I opened up this thread and immediately looked at the picture.

You've done a good job of making the wounds realistic.

Don't be a pussy. All you need is a knife.

In Florida there's this thing called the Florida Mental Health Act (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Florida_Mental_Health_Act). I think self-mutilation to look like a zombie might fit under that. Also, I've bled a lot from a single wound and seen the fat and muscle (I sliced the top of my forearm once) and lemme tell ya, it's a pretty draining experience on not just your blood level but your capacity to function. Shock settled in pretty quick: horror to chills to serious sleepiness to giddiness over the course of forty minutes from the moment of seeing the wound.
