So... I liked it. As a person who's ACTUALLY played the games, I liked it.
Some points, without giving anything away...
For those supposed die hard fans complaining about how little screentime Mona got, go replay the first game. She didn't actually play that big a role in the 1st one either (in terms of actually moving the story).
Marky Mark did a good job, even if he did oversell the whole apathy thing. Ludacris was miscast, but even so, he still pulls off a pretty good performance. So did Beau Bridges.
I felt the ending could've been a little stronger had they stayed 100% cannon, but again, it wasn't horrible.
The photo direction was BRILLIANT. I love the whole Nior York look.
I felt there were little subtleties in the game that were missing in the movie that in the long run really help to strengthen the story (like the blizzard), but at the same time I feel as though that's nitpicking.
For those yet to see it, just don't go expecting an action movie. And keep in mind that the movie is heavily laced in Norse mythology (though you'd never guess it if you didn't know what you were looking at), so it'd help your understanding of the film to catch up on some first, especially since they don't go out of their way to explain much.
Overall, I'd give it a 7.7/10 and I'll add that I'm eagerly awaiting the sequel (it'll be interesting to see how they handle Mona).
