Does it look OK for a system for under $1000? Is there anything I should change?
Heyyou27 09-02-2008, 07:47 PM CPU (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115017) It's the same clockspeed, has more L2 cache per core, as well as 2 more cores. Sure it's an older 65nm process, however the Q6600 is still the better buy.
Power supply (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817341002) Better brand, a lot cheaper, and should be more than powerful enough for your needs.
RAM (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227178) Better brand, higher clockspeed, same timings(technically better because they are achieved at a higher clockspeed) and it's $3 cheaper.
videocard (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814131114) or if money is an issue this one (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814131112); both support Direct X10.1(unlike ALL current Nvidia cards) and the 4870 trades blows with the Nvidia Geforce GTX 260.

Thanks.
viper.gtsr 09-05-2008, 04:19 PM Before I forget, would a 600W Unit be enough to power my system? Like this one? (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=n82e16817341017)
Heyyou27 09-05-2008, 07:05 PM Before I forget, would a 600W Unit be enough to power my system? Like this one? (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=n82e16817341017)While it would honestly be enough for your system, I would go with the 700W OCZ instead. With the $30 mail in rebate, it is actually cheaper than the 600W, and the extra power won't hurt. Unless you really want it to be modular (molax, PCIe, SATA, and other power cables can be unplugged from the power supply vs physically wired into the box) I'd go with the 700W power supply.

I'd get the 700W too, its just my father (as I have no money to buy the parts) thinks the 700W would be over kill for the parts That I have. But thanks for helping me out on this.

But thanks for helping me out on this.Well, it's not like the extra power will damage your components, and with the $30 mail in rebate for the 700W, it is actually $10 cheaper than the 600W power supply. Either one should be fine, so I would just get whichever you can.
