:mf_trombo All right. My problem is that movie files won't play on my computer. I have some cartoons on there that play but I can't watch any movies. I can listen to them but no matter what media player I use I can't watch them. I have tried DivX, Windows Media Player, WinAmp, and several smaller ones that I can't remember. Right first off i couldn't care less what media player you are trying to play them on what type of file is it then we can determine why it isn't working.

It sounds like you are missing a codec. Try downloading/installing this (http://www.free-codecs.com/download/K_Lite_Codec_Pack.htm), as it has most of the codecs that are currently in use anywhere.

First of all NEVER INSTALL A CODEC PACK, they are one of the worst things for your computer possible, get VLC its a tiny little program that will play anything without codecs, i guarentee it will solve your problem, if not you already have some Codec conflicts that are causing this.

How do you figure you make more problems by not installing a codec pack and installing VLC? Im serious i want to hear what you think.

Because if you avoid your problems you won't figure anything out cause that same problem will creep up again like it always does, and there might not be a programme to avoid it next time. So thats why you should just learn codecs what they are where to store them and how to use them to your own advantage. It makes perfect sense to me and it's handy knowing your codecs if you like editing video or use cgi or mess about with anything like that. :smokeing1

Do you really think this guy is gunna be editing video or using cgi or mess? And i said dont install ANY codec packs....thats not avoiding anything its preventing it...

I have a codec pack it literally has every codec you can have on your pc if you want that ??? it can't fail it installs itself and you don't need to f*$k around i tried it and it fixed my advanced problems i was having.
