sounds like it is going to pack a punch, but are they serious with that controller?.....that's asking for complaints (can't say much for the original xbox controller though :P)

I think the xbox controller looks comfortable and realistically useable. The PS3 looks a bit... too futuristic, and not really focused on useability (but hey, it might be awesome for all we know.. guess we won't know till we hold it). It's so weird that Sony has gone from a controller that focused more on usability than anything, to something very shiny, sleek, and appealing to ... aliens?

I don't know about the controllers. Sony isn't the best, but I do trust them. When I first got my PSP, it hurt by thumb like hell to reach down and use the analog nipple, but after a while, it didn't. I'll use whatever controller Sony tells be to use.

Is it going to be reverse compatible?

Orange_Nose
05-17-2005, 09:41 AM
Yea I agree with jon, the controler looks... uncomfortable, they should have kept the ps2 controlers, they are the best...

u never know. the ps2 slim line is tiny. the ps3 might b small and the controller?

05-17-2005, 01:41 PM
I do like the Ps2 Controls, there great for Driving games and also War games!
but on my opinion, i think they should just stick with the normal controls,
Ahh the days... i remember biting the rubber bits of the nipple of the analogs :)

hmmm,:mf_dough:

it will be reverse compatable for ps1 and ps2 and the controllers are wireles (thank nintendo for that idea Wavebird ) so yea they better come out with a new one ps3 controller s. now does every one agree with me that its
ugly as hell

05-17-2005, 06:51 PM
when does it come out?

definitely 2006, they will know a more accurate date when they get there

i think the reason the handles of the controllers are so big is so they can load it up with the batteries and bluetooth hardware. you can't tell on the xbox 360 because they put that stuff where the 2 card slots were, so it is the same size of controller

Brain Licker

engadget.com:

Looks like the PlayStation 3 may be shaping up to be one of the most expensive gaming consoles ever made, if rumours circulating in the Japanese press hold any water. Apparently, Sony officials said the PS3 would be going for “less than 50,000 yen each,” which is the equivalent of about $465USD — a whole lotta bling for a gaming system. We’re gonna have to start busting it overtime on that paper route.

john
05-19-2005, 10:47 PM
Holy crap. Sony things are always cheaper in Japan. If it's $465USD then it's probably $500US making it over $600CAD. Yikes..

WTF?
05-20-2005, 03:00 AM
i reckon it looks pretty cool, nice and smoth, u noe.
i reckon the controller looks cool...SO SUE ME!!!!!
nah, it looks pretty comfortable, but then the camecube controllers look like the most uncomfortable thing since sliced bread! but they were the most comfortably controller i have ever held. jus has too many buttons, so the ps3 controller could be really comfortable......u never know.

this has been leonard neemoy, good night and watch the skys!!!

Stokes
05-20-2005, 04:02 AM
Man, Sony did it again...

They keep putting the friggin left analog stick down on the bottom where you have to stretch your thumb like two inches to reach it!

Why can't they just put the analog in the point of comfort like all the other systems? That's one of the most annoying things about the PS and PS2 controllers.

But they dont care about the fans, now do they?

You, sir, have some very interesting tastes...
It is a known fact that the Gamecube controller has been rated higher in comfort and layout functionality than both the PS2 and the XBox controllers by a number of popular gaming magazines and websites...
How anyone could say that the PS2 controller is more compfortable than the Cube controller with a straight face is beyond me...

brad (guess who i am) you are being very retarded.
i have never brought up for those past 8 years (well, 7 1/2 years) my hatred for the nentendo folk, and i am not saying that because i dont like nintendo, im saying it because it is my point of view, i was actually complementing nintendo on the comfort of the gamecube controller, i just dont like the amount of buttons. and the ps3 controller is changed very little if u think about it, they hav only extended the holding parts of the controller and made it lss bulky!
and i never use the analog sticks anyhoo, so i dont care about the position, altho i do think they are in the wrong place. nintendo have their joysticks figured out, but not the amount of buttons.
and wats the right analog stick on the ps for??? ive never worked it out, maybe ive jus never played a game that uses it....

on the first page of this forum, you guys were talking like the ps2 controler is good and easy to use. in my opinion the ps2's controler is worse than the controler designed by a group of 5 crackheads (the n64 controler). i cant stand ps2's controler, is wrong in so many ways.

My thoughts:

Controller: It looks uncomfortable but u never know, i think the longer handles will reduce the dropping ration and i thinks it's a good use in a situation like this: Since it looks like a boomarang, let's say ur partner for a multiplayer game is on the top floor but has no controller, simply throw one of urs, since it flies like a boomarang, it should curve up the stairs and into his hands...lol...

The System: I dont think it's an improved PS2, to me it's a brand new PS3, u dont hear anyone saying that the Revolution is just a tooled up GameCUbe, cause it is...I think the graphics and games will be good, but it better be worth my money.

I think you spelled controller incorrectly. Also yes they are wireless. It's a good and bad idea. Good for no more tangled cords. Bad for the possiblity of batteries and the interference of other wireless devices, such as wireless routers and bridges.

I heard a rumor that the controllers were Bluetooth, so that should rule out most forms of interference.
