And hey, it could be a bit of a sadist and more of a masochist, but really, I support intense interrogation techniques, or what today we might call torture. Do you guys know what an "ordeal by fire" is? That was torture. Being splashed with water of extreme temperatures is nothing compared to being boiled alive to see if you would come up safe and if you did you were guilty. There are much worse things than simulated drowning and here's the kicker guys, they aren't interrogation techniques, they're just plain old torture.

People will often confess to crimes they didn't commit while being tortured because they figure they can sort it out later in a nonviolent manner. Which they can't, after a confession.

I'm always torn on the matter, because I share both your and Clay's view on it. I think you should beat the bastard until they tell you what you need, but only if you know it was them. And how would that work? Isn't the point of torture to find out if they did it?! Arg...

happylittleClayFox
07-09-2008, 09:48 PM
Yea, I'm not saying there is any way to prove your innocence through being tortured. But if you are innocent and they take you and begin to interrogate you with those methods called torture, then really. You pissed off somebody and nothing can be done, enjoy the ride, wait it out. Hell, look at McCain. Guy waited 20 years or so in a prison in Vietnam(?) and he waited and when they gave him a chance to by live video broadcast to prove he was alive the guy blinked Morse-code, while talking, on camera. Granted he was a POW and well, he was certainly guilty of being one of the enemy.

I repeat that in the end, I don't know.

MeTal CaNdYcaNe
07-09-2008, 09:55 PM
Yes, it is. But the problem is they will take huge advantage of that, and do what they do best: lie. Currently, you can only cease evidence for with a warrant, and only from the area it specifies, or if you can see it though a window (if it's in plain sight) and anything else found "on accident" can't be used in a trial due to the exclusionary rule to accuse you of a crime other than the one they were first accusing you of. If that goes away then who knows what they could do, and what they could manipulate.

happylittleClayFox
07-09-2008, 09:58 PM
I don't like the thought, but they haven't really done that to the majority of the American public so far with the Patriot Act and as far as I understand, it was almost exactly the same as the current bill in question.

MeTal CaNdYcaNe

Basically, they are legalizing every lawbreaking Bush has commited. Which goes far beyond the Patriot Act, and imposing even more, and ever present now, surveillance on the American public. Perhaps the worst part is the cementing of the fact that the government is absolutely and completely above the law.

And its funny how everyone blames bush for this when the democratic congress passed it, by a healthy margin at that.

Barack Obama voted for the proposition, for those of you looking for "change".

This has to do with nullifying all of the lawsuits the ACLU brought against the government. Which are pretty ridiculous.

No. Anyone whos daddy can buy their way into Yale, and have a puppet master use his daddy's former position, as well as a strong republican stance to appeal to the idiot America masses, and sit happy on his little throne while his puppet master bribes congress to continue funding a war that he has convinced Bush is right, and the last part was mumbo jumbo that I didn't understand due to poor wording,

It may be unconstitutional, but the founding fathers also didn't foresee terrorism etc. as becoming as huge a threat to our nation as it is.

And you're wasting your time hating on Bush. Even if he sucks, there is absolutely nothing your bitching will do about it. So unless you go and blow up the white house or something, you aren't making a difference.

It may be unconstitutional, but the founding fathers also didn't foresee terrorism etc. as becoming as huge a threat to our nation as it is.Its not unconstitutional until the supreme court decides it is. And even then, you're following the philosophy os judicial activism. Whereas someone with a philosophy of judicial restraint and or original intent would disagree, such as Scalia.

And you're wasting your time hating on Bush. Even if he sucks, there is absolutely nothing your bitching will do about it. So unless you go and blow up the white house or something, you aren't making a difference. All it takes to kill the president, is one man willing to trade his life for the presidents, you don't need to blow up the whitehouse. all you need is a handgun.

More to the point, I wonder if a Secret Service employee would dive in front of Bush to stop a bullet...I don't think you understand those people. They're usually very good friends with the president, who have duty and honor closer to the heart than petty politics.
