Can someone tell me a similar band for each of these? I\\\'ve hit a wall while looking for music.

MCR

Rise Against (less screaming preferrably)

Avenged Sevenfold

Disturbed

Three Days Grace

The Used

The Offspring (only for Splinter)

oh golly gee

aside from the few listenable MCR/Offspring/Rise Against tracks, my only legit recommendation is to record the sound of a dude OM NOM NOMing on another dude's ballz, preferably by force (as in an unsolicited teabagging situation) and just repeat that on one of those little bratz mp3 players all day and all night until you literally can't stand to have another auditory sensation as long as you live

but 4 reelz, i ain't the droid you're looking for; i haven't listened to mainstream alt-rock radio in many a fortnight.

my first real suggestion is actually to read Rolling Stone (this is the first place I gleaned music knowledge from, and it's a solid mag for more accessible music) or snoop around last.fm for similar artists to those bands

Not sure all of these really relate in the slightest to what you like, but I like MCR and Rise Against, so try these: Flogging Molly, Dropkick Murphy's, Against Me!, and (I really need to get this CD) Atreyu. Maybe some Seether.

You'll love Black Tide. I just downloaded their album from iTunes because it was some featured crap or whatever and it's really, really good, especially for fans in your genre.

The obvious ones are Linkin Park and Soil. Foo Fighters has some good stuff out at the moment. For lighter fare there's Coldplay, or Dope on the heavier end. If you have any interest in some female vocals there's groups like Paramore (I think she's only 19 and she's amazing), Flyleaf, or the couple songs by Coheed and Cambria that are good (The Suffering is good, most of the rest is annoying). And I'm older than you so of course I still listen to STP and Soundgarden ;)

Coheed and Cambria are amazing, but I wouldn't recommend them for Supa Fool. Or, I wouldn't relate them to other bands in his genre.

I just don't like the vocals for Coheed and Cambria.

I love the Foo Fighters. And I'll check out Black Tide today.

Oh I forgot, I liked Against Me! but the others didn\'t seem to go well for me.

I think I\'m in love with Black Tide.

Yeah, I wish they would change up their vocals, they could be really good.

Or uh really bland and uninteresting. But hey I'm only part of C&C's major demographic, what do I know?

OH SNAP

I'm okay with Coheed, but Claudio's vocal style is really the only distinctive aspect of the band imo.

He has a really good voice, especially live. He got annoying on GAIBS4V1FFTTEM, but before and especially after is really great. It annoyed me a bit at first, but it grew on me a lot. That's the thing with Coheed: if you give their music time to grow on you, it will.

I dunno...I don't know many bands with music videos like this (http://youtube.com/watch?v=bvH-70bY2C8) one

Right. And the stuff you listen to isn't generic crap (The Who, The Rolling Stones, Against Me!, everything else)?

I think I\'m in love with Black Tide.
The thing about them is I found them very, very generic, but at the same time accessible and very listenable. I only found them because they were featured on iTunes' home page, and my friend, who through complete coincidence got into them the same time I did, said they had a persistent commercial on MTV.

I assume you're not familiar with the source of their music? You should glance at their wikipedia entry, it's actually kinda cool.

I've liked Blood Red Summer and the video for a long time, btw

What, The Amory Wars?

Not to be a dick or anything, but don't assume you know more about music than I do.

Natus Lumen

Still, when you ask someone what they like most about Ok Go, they're gonna say "The A Million Ways video" or the "Do What You Want video". I've liked Coheed since basically forever, especially their videos, but I agree that there are songs that just get annoying, to go back to an earlier conversation, such as all but five songs on the first Good Apollo album.

As for the Amory Wars being Coheed's source of music...it was more like Sanchez wrote the story into his music as a vague idea that slowly developed more as he decided to turn the story into an actual publication. The story of the Amory Wars is really, really cool, especially when you can tie it into certain parts of the music and the Welcome Home music video.

And what's funny about that is my friend pretty much wrote Coheed's Wiki entry.

Right. And the stuff you listen to isn't generic crap (The Who, The Rolling Stones, Against Me!, everything else)?

Correct.

BTW, that wasn't meant as an insult, nor was it directed at you. I simply meant that if a bands only distinguishing feature is their vocals, not even the lyrics, just the vocals, they must be pretty damn generic. Try not to be so self centered, ok kiddo?

Natus Lumen
04-02-2008, 08:22 AM
Okay, the point I was making was that you don't have any right to be calling other music generic (and since you used generic crap instead of just generic, I'm going to assume you meant it as a bad thing) with what you listen to.

Nevertheless, Sanchez' voice probably isn't the only distinguishing feature of Coheed, but okay.

Yes, yes I do. Especially seeing as the music I listen to is not generic. Just because music is popular doesn't mean its generic. And most of the stuff I listen to is less mainstream than Coheed. Seriously, you gotta get less pissy. You have shit taste in music, learn to accept this.

BTW, I don't care for Coheed one way or the other, I merely meant that you have shit taste in music because you dislike music that is far more amazing. Such as The Who.
