While The Pirate Bay does have some text files that may support piracy, it also has many, many more text files that do not support it.
If you're going to ban someone for linking to the pirate bay, you may as well ban for linking to google, yahoo, or any other major search engine because they "support" piracy much, much more than the pirate bay.

The Pirate Bay does help you get some nice music, though...like Radiohead (legal)

I was never banned, although Ryu said I was. Literally. I never lost the permission to post and I knew perfectly well what was happening after the second time I posted the pic

Besides, I didn't get 'banned' for image leeching (notwithstanding, hotlinking is perfectly savvy). I got 'banned' because, although I thought I was posting something completely harmless to the human eyes, it changed into a Goatse pic because of something the webmaster did on the other end to prevent hotlinking. Although there's a more technologically advanced explanation for what happened, that's the gist of it, and that's all that mattered.

Actually you did get banned. You just got unbanned by the time you logged back in.
