The Cell trailer (http://youtube.com/watch?v=5sC3LisvAfY)

This is the single most disturbing movie I have ever, ever seen. Take the strangest, scariest thing you've ever watched and dose it with heroin, cough syrup, and LSD. It has a good plot and good acting but I couldn't sleep for hours after watching this movie.

It actually looks pretty sweet.

Imma add it to my netflix. I can handle "fuck shit fuck" movies.

Seriously. It has your run of the mill detective plotline, except instead of interrogating the murderer they go into his mind and...ugh.

I thought it was pretty cool. At least, better than your average detectives-looking-for-a-murderer movie. If it keeps you from sleeping I'd say they did a pretty good job with it ;)

Back? This thing's near a decade old. This was made in like the 6th minute of her 15 minutes of fame. She's not coming back. Her career is dying a slow, unavoidable death.

Sen

No. It's better than Saw. I think maybe that's the problem: You guys were too young/not born when the good horrors/thrillers came out. So even though this was mediocre at best when it came out, compared to the Saws and Hostels of today, this is frikkin genius.

Good point, although you aren't that much older than me.

I don't watch a lot of horror movies anyway.

Horror movies suck. The kind of stuff that scares me isn't people getting brutally murdered or eaten by zombies or demon posessed or any of that crap. It has to be something... else. I dunno. I guess the type of movie Sam just saw. I haven't seen it though, so I wouldn't know.

Yea, but see, the the difference is I grew up without much guidance. I mean, I have vivid memories of watching all sorts of adult films at aged 5 ('cept porn). I think that's why watching Barney scares me a bit...

Anyways, I remember this one film in particular involved this young guy (like 11 or 12) renting the neighborhood whore and beating her out after someone told him something along the lines of "...you have to do something to smell like a man." I know it was in black & white. I don't remember what it was called though....

Try thrillers, like Psycho. Much more enjoyable. And the suspense is great. Though I do love zombies meself...

My dad was telling me all about the horror movies. He talked about Halloween, an independent movie made in 3 weeks on a budget of $300,000. It was mainly the suspense that made horror movies great. And the movie called Misery. It was about a crazy woman who was obsessed with this one author's book series and thought that it was real. When the author came into town and told her that the series was done for, she kidnapped him and made him write the last book. The author did finally escape after two tries.

Also, the Blair Witch Project, where if someone would watch a video tape, the phone would ring and that person would die after 24 hours unless he/she got someone else to watch it. And a documentary was made about it (in the movie) and a bunch of people thought it was real because of the realism the documentary brought and that eerie feeling.

The thing that really scares the shit out of me is the freaky stuff that pops out of nowhere like in the Exorcism of Emily Rose. It said based on a true story, which I don't really believe. It also took place in Illinois, which is where I live. I just saw the previews and that was more than enough. It would be dark and raining outside and the girl would look at the window and a face would be there that was all freaky and shit. And then she would be standing outside and a cab would drive past. In the passenger's seat, another freaky face would be staring at her. I hate stuff like that. Or she would be walking in a crowd of people and a someone would look at her and it would be some screwed up skeleton dude. Gah.

Unfortunately these days it's all about cheap easy scares. If you want quality suspense you won't find it in most recent horror films.

I'd like to see a movie based on F.E.A.R., as long as they stick to the feel of the game. And as long as Uwe Boll doesn't make it.

ok first off

1. misery was an awesome movie.. i considered it more of a movie about how this man survived living with a phsycho stalker with a tendancy to violence.
if you ever need something to do, i highly recomend you watch it... it will really make your skin crawl (especially the part with te "hobbling process")

2. the blair witch project was actually about a team of ameteur film makers who went into the woods to shoot a documentary about the local towns legend about a witch that lived in the forest. to make a long story short, all kinds of freaky shit happens and then the movie ends. what creeped me (and obviously the rest of the world) ou was the way the film wasa editied. it was made to look like the raw footage from the teams camera's. no special effects or cut and pasting scenes together. it was all sequential and all very very raw (which is what made the movie very very real). it is one of the only horror movies that has caused me to lose a nights sleep......

3. what youre referring to is what i like to call, the "BOO" effect. basically filmakers will make something jump out at you from nowhere and incorporate this with a loud noise of some form (usually music of screaming or both). the two pronged assault on both your sense of sight and sound instantly makes you jump. however the downside to this is that in order for your hearing sense to be scared, the soundtrack has to start off quiet and suddenly jump up. meaning that it gets very easy to pick when these moments are about to happen. heres a cool thing to try out...
watch a horror movie with the sound off.. its not nearly scarey as with the volume.....

4. "the exorcism of emily rose"
SUCKED
ASS

i have never seen a finer example of an A grade horror film scaring me less....
if you want recomendations for films, i just decided im going to make a thread...

The only reason I didn't like The Secret Window was because I had already seen Fight Club so I already knew what was going to happen. It had a decent plot, but I didn't feel the suspense.

Misery wasn't nearly as graphic as the book. I remember reading the book and thinking it really wasn't that great.

And I have a dartboard in my room now. Yes!

No.

It's a stupid book anyway, but I was reading them when I was early on in your age anyway and liking them, so do whatever. No, it's not very scary at all, unless sadistic women bother you.

Read The Dark Tower books by Stephen King. Those are so win, although I hated the ending.

I remember something kind of like that, but...different. I woke up in the middle of the night after having a nightmare, went to find my mom, and ended up finding her in the living room. She was watching some movie about this kid, and I got there toward the end (I guess?). Anyway, his parents were secretly killers and had been getting rid of the bodies by cooking them, and he'd been eating them without knowing, and...I don't know, he found out because he went into the basement or something and saw the bodies everywhere, etc. It made me feel sick, even though my mom put it on mute. Has anyone seen that?

It's basically the same thing, truly! It was just scary instead of...perverted? I don't know. And I'm unsure about what the movie was, I just remember that scene.

Whatever. Stop questioning me. ;D
