Atari was around long before Nintendo was, and they're still around now. Sega started about the same time Nintendo did, and they quit making consoles. Sony & MS came much later.

Edit: after some searching, I stand corrected. Atari and Nintendo started making game consoles about the same time, although Nintendo started in Japan and did not start US sales until long after Atari did.

I'm saying that Sega and Atari failed when there systems where inferor to nintendo so that's what will happen again and again

ok you seem to be an angry little person. yes nintendo has been around forever but many or their new games have lost the feel and the kickassness of the classical nes-snes games. i mean it nintendo hasnt had a really really kickass game since super mario rpg: legend of the seven stars. absolutly all of their new games have lost the magic that the classics have. nintendo has dropped the ball, and show no signs of picking it up in the near future. i mean it has 1/3 the library of games xbox does and and xbox has 1/4 of the games ps2 has. i would be very surprised if nintendo makes it through the next-gen console war.

last i heard from good ole Bill, M$ is concentrating on getting to the top of the market with the Xbox 360. after that, they will look into the portable gaming market. i'm sure they are stirring around ideas now, but we won't see anything for a while. rest assured, when they are ready, they would just release a juiced up PocketPC with expensive graphics.

The last Xbox and Xbox360 aren't exactly "compact." Although Microsoft *does* have it's PocketPC OS which would be a good base for a portable gaming device.

I think the portable market is already covered pretty much though, there isn't really very much you could expand on. There's Nintendo with it's grab-and-go portable (the DS) with good battery life, and rugged for kids. And then there's the PSP, a more stylish handheld targetted towards the older gamers. Doesn't really leave much room for anyone else.

what i said basicaly is not that there arent good games on nintendo its just that i havnt gotten the same feeling of enjoyment out of newer nintendo games. i mean beating smrpg was one of the greatest things i ever saw but since then "gem" games on gamecube are very hard to come by. super mario 64 was kinda boring after the first half of the game, ocarina of time was easy, smash bros 3 aint out yet but melee wasnt good unless u had 3 friends of equal talent, dk64 took buying an extra pac thing and im a cheap-ass so i never played it. nintendo brought me into the gaming world so i cant say it isnt a good thing but their games have lost the classic feel. and i forgot there was one very good game on the 64, Paper mario, only because i loved it and many many people never played it.

i wouldnt go as far as copying but i will say this nintendo is monopolizing the handheld game world. but the ds has truely dissapointed me, witht the wierd stylis and many of the games coming to nothing more then a random handfull of minigames. the handheld game market is in need of a face lift and psp is giving it one.

Nintendo PWNs all in the gaming console industry. I find it funny how PS2 fans like to claim that the PS2 has better graphics than XBox and Cube, when, in reality, the opposite is true. I acually enjoy the cube's visuals more than either of the other consoles', despite the fact that XBox technically has a better gfx card. Nintendo keeps the visuals simple, clean, and the framerate high, which produces stunning results. For those of you that have never played cube, check out F-Zero GX, or Metroid Prime: Echoes. Amazing.

Although the PC will always be the most powerful and fun gaming device. Let's face it, it has literally unlimited graphics and processing capabilities.

and can you say "Unreal Tournament 2004"? Most fun game ever created. Period.

And BagelHead, don't you think you are being a little shallow-minded? I mean, how can SFA be better than a game with the exact same gameplay, with WAY more weapons, vehicles, gameplay modes, ect.? Not to mention the controls in SFA are reeeally wonky, whereas UT2004 uses traditional mouse-aim (hold R to aim up WTF?)?

And not that I don't like SFA, because I do. It's actually one of my favorite all-time games. But, some PC games are just...better. There's more potential in the console, simple as that. No one can prove that otherwise.

Of course, I'll always be a hardcore Nintendo fan at heart... :happy:

As long as all three companys are competeing they willl make better and better games faster and faster. The more the competition the more advantage to us so I say let there be three. Also Xbox is the best.
