Have a new album, Pretty. Odd., coming out on march 25th.
I know you are all just impossibly excited, right? ;D
But whatever. I'm reallyy excited!

I've been waiting for such a long time.

So by the way, while I'm on this subject,
why does everyone I know seem to dislike them so much?
Including a lot of you, I'm sure.
I mean, they're very talented.
But even if you disagree you could just choose not to listen to them.
However, almost anyone I mention them to is like,
"Ohmahgawsh, they suck! I'd rather die than listen to them!" and on and on.
It seems a bit excessive, no?

So really, there has to be something causing it.
What is it, if you know?

Oh, and here (http://youtube.com/watch?v=ekkTyb3l6Qg) is their new song.
Just some random video someone made, but it's pretty rad I guess.
Anyway, I adore the song. ^__^

*Edit: Oops, almost forgot to mention.
That thing at the end is...well honestly, I don't know.
It's kind of funny though. Very random...
Has nothing to do with them, but whateverr.

God

Because it's corporate pop-punk and they aren't very talented, thats why no one likes them and thats why I don't listen to them. Unless I'm at a sporting event or the off chance I'm tuned into a radio station, then it gets shoved into my ear holes, which I assume causes hostility toward panic at the disco.

Hmm. Well, that's just a reason to not listen to them, though!
But I guess I wouldn't expect you to be one of those "Omg, I hate them" people.

Ohh, and by the way,
I'm not really sure whether to call them "Panic! At The Disco" now or just "Panic At The Disco,"
Because they kind of disowned their exclamation point. Odd.
Well, I don't feel like editing my first post,
but I'll stick to the latter from now on. ^__^

Or you could just use the acronym, PATD.

poisonedcandy_X
02-02-2008, 07:49 PM
Well, yeah. It's not as rad, though.
But everyone used to put"P!ATD" or at least the people I know!
So it's still confusing.

But I'm just sticking to what they want.

Ariel, why do you think they're "very talented"? I want your truthful opinion, because I apparently can't fully comprehend your criteria for talent.

I can't tell Panic songs apart, which is just unacceptable. Music shouldn't be like that.

Ariel, why do you think they're "very talented"? I want your truthful opinion, because I apparently can't fully comprehend your criteria for talent.

I can't tell Panic songs apart, which is just unacceptable. Music shouldn't be like that.

Hmm, well, it's a little hard to explain.
But just for you, I'll try my best!

Mmkay, first of all;
They sound, in my opinion at least, amazingly good.
As in, Brendon's voice, the music, their lyrics; everything, basically.
I can't find a single flaw in any of it.
And I thought they were even better live, which is saying something.

They're also a lot more creative than any other band I've ever heard of.
Their music, for one thing.
For me, the biggest part of that is their shows.
I mean, any chance I get to go to a show, I'm definitely there.
But have I ever seen one that even compared to theirs?
Not nearly.
This little bit is a lot less important, but I find the very way they dress pretty rad.
I mean, it's so pretty and classy and interesting.
Not saying that no other band dresses interestingly.

So that was the easy part to explain.

The thing that really gets me about them is the feeling they give me.
I mean, to me, their music is like magic.
Just something about it...it makes me feel...well, basically, happy.
Very, very happy.
No matter what's going wrong.
I can't even listen to them without smiling.
Only one other band, My Chemical Romance, has a similar effect on me,
but their music usually calms me.
Panic is the only band that makes me feel quite like they do.
I think that must take talent. So that's why I said that. ^__^

This is a bit random, but very important to me, at least.
There is one other reason that I love them.
I'm a good judge of character
[you guys may or may not agree, but I know myself better than you do, and it really is very true],
and I am perfectly sure that they are very amazing people.
I won't go into details since you dislike them anyway,
but I truly believe that.
Not saying they're perfect; I'm sure they're far from it, like everyone else.

So for me, as a band, they really are quite perfect.
The best one I know of, to be honest.
No amount of popularity for them can change my mind on that.
Because the truth is, of course I have other favorite bands.
But they will always be especially important to me.

I hope that helped at least a little.

God

I think if you branched out and dug a little deeper you'd find better bands that make you feel the same way. You're only getting the generic stuff, ya know? You deserve some finer sound.

Hmmm, okay, in a little while.

Well actually, I have a lot of different friends,
since I just love anyone amazing.
They tend to listen to a lot of different music around me.
I mean, I've heard at least a little of everything, you know?
Panic is still especially amazing.
I mean, people think differently.
I wouldn't expect to like the same music as you guys,
just as you don't like my music.
But try not to judge. It's not very nice. ;D

On a very random note, I don't think I'll ever get tired of this video. (http://youtube.com/watch?v=vY2WLMf0F_c)
Even if it is a little silly.
So just while we're on that subject a bit,
what do you guys think of The Dresden Dolls?
[If you've never heard of them, the song in that video is them, after the beginning of course, and they're Amanda and Brian. So that may help a little.]

P.S. If you watch the whole thing, there's a little after the credits...so...just letting you know.
Because I love you and wouldn't want you to miss out on anything! [;

I don't hate them... I just think they're kind of boring. Plus lately I've been getting more into harder and/or sounds, and they just don't do it for me.

Maybe one day I'll lighten up and like them, but right now I don't really like any of their stuff.

Things that are reminiscent of a knife scratching up against a chalkboard... or bands where the singers have screechy or scratchy singing voices, yes. Two in particular I've been getting into lately are Schoolyard Heroes and TheSTART.

Though recently I have been craving actual grunge music, and 80's metal too. It doesn't have to actually be from the 80's, just sound like it or is inspired by it (like Schoolyard Heroes).

Ouch. Did you make that sound so bad on purpose? ;D

Well, it's certainly okay that you don't like them.
At least you can dislike their music without deciding you hate them, as people.
It always seemed like a bit much to me.

Speaking of new videos, Coheed and Cambria has a new single from No World For Tomorrow called Feathers and that gets my vote for the single most messed up video ever.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=V9FZOdSdqu4

If you don't feel like watching the video, here's a rundown: it opens with the typical fifties white picket fence poster family, black and white, the mother serving her husband and two children an enormous stack of pancakes. Then, when the husband and boys leave the house, the woman goes into the attic where she has three men in sailor outfits tied to her wall and strips into lingerie. Then the doorbell rings and a postman gives her a package. She seduces him into the house, opens the package, which contains a hammer, and knocks him unconscious. Then she ties him up too. Soon, she kills all the men she has tied up (played, incidentally, by the band members), grinds them up (this is all very graphic and in black and white), and the next scene shows the woman serving a whole huge table full of sausages and meat to her family and they're all smiling and thumbs up and everything...ugh. Disturbing.

Amazing song, though. Just amazing.

Sorry for the tangent. Thought it fit in with the thread.

It's nothing like that. The grinder's funnel is a cheesy piece of flexing metal, and it's obviously all fake. If you get squeamish at the sight of ground beef, I advise against it. Otherwise, whatevs. It's actually somewhat humorous.

And I thought they were even better live, which is saying something.

Creepy and vaguely homo-erotic is not something that many people are into, so I doubt that there are very many people besides you that would like Panic more rather than less after seeing them live. They do have stage presence though, I'll give them that.

"Creepy and vaguely homo-erotic"?
They are not!
I mean, they do a few things just for a reaction...
But not ever anything serious.
And nothing creepy at all...
I thought they were all quite adorable, actually. -__-

But at least I can agree with your last sentence. [;

I don't know, I saw them live in a pretty small venue, not tiny, but not emmense like the Hollywood Bowl or anything, and they were pretty frickin weird. And there was a looooooot of homosexualesque activity going on that was far too graphic for my tastes. There were some hot chick too though, they had a ton of dancers.

PatD! kinda suck live, imo. Evanescence too. Amy Lee has a beautiful voice, but she sounds way better A Capella or with solely acoustic accompaniment. Does anyone remember her performance with Korn singing Freak on a Leash live? Beautiful.

Brendon and Ryan pretend to do things sometimes.
Just kissing and all, and that's not even real.
They just get close. ^^

They are Fallout Boy/The Academy Is.../Dashboard Confessional

I seriously cannot tell the difference. All those bands try to by "emo" but "with good humour" and try to make fun of their strange dressing and crazy ways as if it makes them any less bad at everything.
